Togbe Afede only spoke his mind, he is not the spokesman for voltarians, neither is he the "chief of Volta region", he didn't seek opinion from other colleague chiefs in the volta region before speaking, otherwise he would have made reference to their collective stand, which may still not be thr stand of the masses, since its not slways the mssses side with their leaders' views on issues, so Togbe Afede can't give any assurance that volta region will remain part of Ghana, an assurance which sterns solely from his point of view. Concerning the issue of the group posing no threat to the security of Ghana, I believe same, but on the issue of voltarians forever remaining part of Ghana, I have my doubts!!

There is no smoke without fire. Where there is fire, there is always a signal of smoke. Let us learn from history: issues of these nature abound all around us. Look at the Nigerian issue. It started as a agitation leading to the Biafra war and now Boko Harama atrocities. We should not deceive ourselves that there can be no threat in this separatist movement. There is therefore the need for cool heads to prevail in solving this issue rather the archaic method of pushing the issue under the carpet with the statement to "ignore". Does not make any good leadership sense to me.

The statement attributed to Togbe Afede, the chief of Ho Asorgli is very unfortunate, unwise and inward looking, to say the least. A serious, highly respected and knowledgeable person as the chief should not have made such an unguarded statement on a volatile issue like this in his region. Issues like this should have been cautiously studied before making such a hasty statement. To treat this case by ignoring it is dangerous and Togbe should remember that cases of these nature start with recalcitrant leaders making statements like these until the issues bloom out of proportion into uncontrollable tragedies. Togbe should think again and come back with a more reconciliatory posture.

Togbi's mandate as a chief covers only a small portion of the subject territory.
Also his mandate as president o the National House of Chiefs does not cover issues of this nature ...

Togbi's mandate as a chief covers only a small portion of the subject territory.
Also his mandate as president o the National House of Chiefs does not cover issues of this nature. If it does, then all chiefs will have to vote on the matter before he can speak for all chiefs on the issue. But This is not a matter for all Ghanaian chiefs to decide. The aggregate opinion of all chiefs the subject territory may be more relevant.

Finally, Togbi as a single Eweman can express his opinion on the issue as he did but he should make it clear that his views are his personal views and NOT those of any other body he may represent.

The wise thing to do here is invite them for dialogue not rubbishing them about. REMEMBER MACBETH; you would be consumed soon. Remember 28 February etc. Your jurisdiction ends in some parts of Asogli only.
