226g of ganja never hurt anyone. whats the point of jailing this young man for 10 years? haba. Common sense tells us his life will be wasted because of this harmless act. meanwhile the real thugs and thieves run loose .

I do not approve marijuana smoking in any form;whether conventional or recreational.But to Sentence someone to Serve 10 yrs in Jail,for posession of a little stuff(226 g)is too harsh and un-called for;especially if it's the culprit's first brush with the Law. A 2 months Community Service would have been appropriate.Ghanaian Judges should learn to give a 2nd Chance to minor offences.Again, as part of orientation of Judges,a mandatory tour to about 5 different Prisons in the Country should be the requisite final qualifications to Sit in the Courtroom and also to acquaint themselves with general Conditions in Ghana Prisons to help them make informed decisions. How can a Judge jailed someone 10 yrs for 226 g of marijuana; who will care for the wife and Children,if any,in a Country without a single Social -Welfare Benefit to say the least. Legal Aid-Ghana should appeal the Sentence And if he was not represented in Court, it means the culprit did not have a Fair Trial. Please help this poor man.
