There was an attempt to bribe the minority side of the Appointments Committee during the vetting of Mr. Boakye Agyarko. However, did the said bribery come from Boakye Agyarko as speculated by Mahama Ayariga? Well, he claimed Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka told him and others that received the speculative bribery cash that it was coming from Boakye Agyarko through the chairman of the Appointments Committee Joe Osei Owusu. In my opinion, two things that Mahama Ayariga did wrong here.

1, Confirming the bribery story before Radio Gold and 2, not waiting to ascertain the real facts of the allegation before telling his side of the story to Radio Gold. My conclusion to all these brouhaha surrounding the bribery allegation is that the chief minority whip Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka either told a lie, hence implicating both the chairman of the Appointments Committee Joe Osei Owusu and Mr. Boakye Agyarko along with it. So, it's rather Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka that has created the whole confusion in this matter.

What would be his motive for failing or refusing to support Ayariga's allegations, if they were indeed true? By all standards, Mr Muntaka's denial was the most damning, and doubtlessly undermined Ayariga's credibility. As any lawyer worth that title knows, allegations and accusations should not be levelled against someone based on rumours. Ayariga failed to observe this basic principle. His posturing in Parliament yesterday, was analogous to the protests of a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

These are the characters in Ghana's Parliament. We needed an independent body outside parliament to have looked into a case involving MP's. After all, all the members of the fault finding committee are MP's and their reputation were at stake. On the lighter side let me tell you, our brothers from the north were referred to as Peppeni or Peppefuo".... . This generation of people feel that word is an insult and get offended when they are referred to as such, but hey, this was an honorable name given to them when they moved from the north to settle in the zongo in Ashanti to take up jobs. And as it turned out later , the traders there refused to work with their own people but rather loved the northerners because as they said, they did their work "perpperpe" and they always walk in groups, hence the name " pepperfuo". So Ayariga, you have said your word "Pepperper" , and we need some more of your character in the August house. Be bold and speak out. God bless you
