What this Ayariga character is effectively saying is this: I lied under oath, but I if I admit that the accusations I made were false, I will face a charge of perjury. Therefore I insist that the accusations I made, though false, are true in order to avoid been charged with perjury. This character is been disingenuous, because he has neither been charged with perjury nor threatened with perjury. What the Ghartey Committee recommended is that he has brought the dignity of Parliament into disrepute, and therefore he should apologise. This is what hubris is preventing him from doing. So the issue of perjury that he is raising, is neither here nor there. It is probable, that even among his fellow NDC MPs, there are those who see the futility of his posturing, and wish that he would do the right thing, to resolve this matter. His pride will definitely lead to his downfall.

In the first place, Ayariga failed to preserve any credible evidence to substantiate his allegation, knowing as a lawyer that such serious allegation could be a case of "he said, I said" (or hearsay). His witnesses, Ablakwa and Suhuyini had advised the committee to use the CCTV cameras as source of evidence (that, too, was a failure). The biggest and stupid mistake Ayariga and the other accusers did was to vote and pass the person the directly or indirectly accused of the bribery allegation, Mr Agyarko. And they (the accusers and their party members) passed this man to be a Minister after accusing him of bribery. It's unfortunate for any right thinking person(s) to buy his argument. Northerners I know tell the truth, and are not malicious.
