I do believe and will bet anyone in Ghana that our country CAN NOT, WILL NOT develop to the par of countries like Canada, USA, Germany, Holland etc.
And you are so right about our complaints and too many funerals to attend. We are just not serious and our education system doesn't help either.
Thanks for sharing your insight and observations about the Ghanaian worker. I will hope and expect that we change our lackadaisical attitude and be more productive in our various endeavors.

Not long after the Turkish Karpower ship-based power generation plant berthed in Ghana there was confusion over the sacking of some Ghanaian technicians and engineers. To anyone conversant with the general work attitude at Turkish -and Ghanaian- companies, the above-mentioned incident must have come as no surprise, for the attitudes are diametrically opposed.
Stating the above does not amount to lack of patriotism or xenophobia. It is a fact that productivity will be a factor as Ghana strives to build a great economy using technological and managerial tools.

i have been talking for years to my construction workers about such attitudes for years but to no avail. The problem is that we lack skilled workers ready for the market so you employ, train and then have to fire and repeat the cycle. Really that is not what I set out to do by establishing a so I have moved some of my capital to Canada where my children live to have some peace of mind. the university graduates are even worse. I am a full blooded Ghanaian but I have been at this nonsense for thirty plus years and exhausted. I want to retire sane and comfortable.

You've nailed it right on the head. Ghanaians must have a change of attitude towards work, if we want to see a change in the country. it's starts with everyone including me.

Am sure we are all aware of this problem and i will not blame the youth. It all starts from the top. Our leaders are killing the spirit of the young ones by their deeds.

There is truly an enormous canker amongst the Ghanaian workforce back home, which if not checked and addressed by persons in authority would keep the country retrogressing for long, irrespective of which political party is in power or voted for.
What i have realized is that majority of people treated this way are mostly non residents, expatriates/foreigners who engages the services of the local workforce. It is indeed frustrating to engage the services of workforce in Ghana when all they think is to come and idle on the job and get paid at the end of the day.
Sometimes, one just wishes he had the means to hire the services of qualified foreign workforce which nevertheless comes with guaranteed job to execute any project he undertakes.
Ghana is full of lies, corruption, incompetency, hatred, back-bitting, jealousy, shitty people etc. Most often, Ghana is a place one yearns to go to but cries to leave, hahahaha, but one day, some of us would gather the courage to pack bag and luggage to settle home and find solace just as Nico has found in our motherland, Ghana, Africa for that matter!
