Action Movement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the former first lady, Lordina Mahama and the siblings of former President John Mahama of being the cause of NDC defeat in the 2016 elections. The spokesperson of the group, Kodzo Hamenya Keglo speaking at the Ghana International Press Centre said “while JM was preaching made in Ghana goods (such as shoes, batik and locally made clothes), the wife was doing the opposite by printing T Shirts from China which is a huge disappointment for Ghanaian printing companies.The 20 million pieces of T Shirts JM’s wife printed from China, could have been shared to party members to print them locally and would have created a lot of jobs for Ghanaians.”
JM’s brothers are the main reason why we lost the 2016 elections, collecting all contracts from Airport, Roads, Cocoa Board, GNPC, ECG , VRA, Ministry of Power and all major contracts in the country.“If you don’t see JM brothers, you cannot get a contract and if you see them, then you have to pay money before you get the contract, frustrating foreign contractors and companies by taking Ghanaian contractors for granted and creating enemies for the NDC party,”

As soon as Power was WON, people who NEVER STEPPED on a CAMPAIGN PLATFORM, in CONNIVANCE with CLUELESS Atta Mills, SIDELINED Him in a Manner ONLY the STRONG-HEARTED would survive.

If Mahama had won a second term. the Writing on the Wall would be "RAWLINGS HAS BEEN FORCED INTO RETIREMENT FROM ACTIVE POLITICS BY THE NDC."

Are people seeking his involvement in 2020 so they would have the opportunity to HUMILIATE him like was done to him in 2009?

How many of those who are CLAMOURING for his involvement said a THING or saw anything wrong when 'CRUCIFY HIM, CRUCIFY HIM' was the call from the NDC HIERARCHY?

Do you hear any of those who side-lined him after the EMBARRASSING defeat? NO, NO, NO.

They wanted Rawlings away so they could STEAL and STEAL after the PV OBENG Brokered 'GRAFT ACCORD' to not prosecute NPP Looters.

And they HAVE LOOTED BIG TIME and are QUIETLY ENJOYING the LOOT.

Have you HEARD from the likes of Mahama Iddrisu, the Awhois, Kodjo T and ALL the Bigwigs who went SILENT when Rawlings was being SHABBILY TREATED?

How about the 'BABIES WITH SHARP TEETH'? Have their TEETH been 'UN-SHARPENED'?

If Rawlings would Campaign in 2020, it would be ONLY to save his BELOVED NDC from dying from 'UNNATURAL' CAUSES.

You the NDC minority are now coming back to your senses. Prior to the 2016 elections, you bragged arrogantly through and through that you did not need former President Rawlings' assistance to win elections and so you castigated him. In fact, you even rejected his warnings and advice. You proclaimed how you were going to win the elections hands down, because of the so-called Mahama-led intrastructural development in the country. This was the general belief and attitude among the NDC leadership, especially by Mr. Asiedu Nketia and those 'babies with sharp teeth'.

But the truth is that without President Rawlings and his wise policy and strategy of governing Ghana, which was quite different from President Mahama's, the NDC cannot win power in Ghana again for unforeseeable future, if you do not wake up. Therefore, those among the NDC leadership like Mr. Kofi Adams and his ilk, who are still agitating for Mr. Mahama to lead the party again in the 2020 elections, are making a very serious mistake.

The truth is that President Mahama was almost totally responsible for his and his party's loss in both the 2016 general and presidential elections, but it was not due to his incompetence. I for one do not share the view that he was incompetent. President Mahama and the NDC lost the elections simply because of his unwise decision of overwhelmingly appointing his northern folks to almost all the key government positions. Professor Adei, former rector of the Ghana Institute of Public Administration at Legon, asserted that 86% of President Mahama's appointees were northerners.

Indeed, when Mr. Mahama started disproportionately appointing his northern folks to almost all the key positions at the beginning of his administration, I commented that he was going to send the NDC into opposition, and that was exactly what happened. I thought at that time that the NDC as a party should resist that and tell the President point-blankly that he was wrong with his appointments. Surprisingly, however, some party stalwarts began to defend him, saying that he must be allowed to pick people he felt he could comfortably work with. So, unlike President Rawlings whose appointees were overwhelmingly Akans, especially Asantes and Fantes, President Mahama chose predominantly northerners. This spelt his and his party's doom. Rawlings appointed Asantes and Fantes as well as Ewes and Northerners to key positions in his administration. Rawldings did this knowing fully well that Akans formed the largest ethnic group (44%) in Ghana.

The truth is that Akans, especially the Asantes, do not like northerners; they look down upon them. They see them as their former slaves/servants, derogatorily calling them Pepeni, and for them to see the northerners all of a sudden ruling over them was almost anathema. Remember the comments Mr. Osafo Marfo made in secret about those not having natural resources in their regions ruling over the Akans whose regions have the natural resources of the country. He concluded that that was never heard of anywhere in the world except in Ghana where, he alleged, that was going on. This was during the Mahama and the NDC-led administration. It was the same sentiment Prof. Adei expressed when he complained bitterly about 86% of Mahama's appointees being northerners. It was this sentiment that conscientised the Akans and thus their votes for Akufo-Addo and the NPP and against Mr. Mahama and the NDC administration in the last elections. It was not necessarily because the Akans saw Mr. Akufo-Addo per se as a presidential material that they preferred him to Mahama. To the Akans, who almost completely abandoned Mr. Mahama and the NDC for Akufo-Addo and the NPP, it is a matter of ethnicity; ethnicity matters to them than anything else, like infrastructural development that the NDC so much touted. It is because of ethnicity that someone as corrupt as Akufo-Addo, with all the other weaknesses he has, like his false claim of being a lawyer but cannot tell Ghanaians which law institution trained him, coupled with his claim of having lost his law certificate, could be elected president of Ghana. The truth is that for Ghanaians, especially Asantes and Akans in general, voting in elections is not issue-based; voting to them is driven by the candidates' ethnicity. Therefore, once they were conscientised by people like Osafo-Marfo and Adei, the Akans woke up and decided to vote for the NPP candidates, no matter what their weaknesses. They prefer to vote for corrupt Akan candidates than for those they perceive as their inferiors. That was what the Akans did in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

I can assure the NDC minority that if Mr. Mahama, or any other northerner for that matter, contests the presidency in the 2020 elections, he will lose again. I'm sad to say that those among the NDC leadership like Mr. Kofi Adams who are still calling on President Mahama to run again in the 2020 elections have not got it. As indicated above, some of them even had said that they did not need President Rawlings to win an election. For that reason, they would not listen to his advice. Such people must wake up if they wish to win back power. They need the Akans' vote to win. Therefore they must adopt wise and practical strategies just as former President Rawlings did; otherwise the NDC will remain in opposition for a very long time to come.
