Our railway system has been run down for decades making us become paralysed as a country and losing much revenue. Rail transport for heavy raw materials is much more economical than road transport. Kudos NPP.

What was I seeing? Firstly I didn'#t know there was a train line in that area!
Secondly, that our trains were even working!!. I was actually on my way to Spintex Road via the Accra Mall.

Well Done to whoever thought about commuters travelling from Accra Central to Tema, at least it eases traffic congestion, gets commuters to and from work on time, And I hope it is not packed like the tube or the metro in the West!!

WE SAY: That is a lie, false, and nonsensical!

Having the 3rd longest system is not the same as being the best. Russian railways does not beat US or China, or Japanese railway, in most respects.

A useful measure would be how many rail miles per country, by type (passenger or freight), or accident rate, or on time rate, per 1,000 of the people, etc, all being associated with indicators of Level of Service (LOS), so to speak.

But, since that type of data is not available to us, we can look at level of activity.

Russian Railway is nowhere near the top 12, or top 20, even.

In addition, industry-wise, Russia does not feature in the top "World's largest railway companies, per market value of the system. All the top 10 are in the US, Japan, or China.

All this to say the Government of Ghana ought to be careful so they do not waste money selecting the wrong partner(s) for Ghana railways.

Let's not fool Ghanaians for political or corrupt reasons.

I believe that other countries (China, Brazil) will soon follow so that there will be more bidders. European countries will certainly stay away because they know because of their exorbitant charges, they will be too expensive for Ghana.
