The law is no respecter of persons. The rate of lawlessness in Ghana is very alarming. How could a party executive in his right state of mind solicit for money to pay for fines of lawbreakers who showed flagrant defiance of the law and as a result made the party they claim to support more unpopular in the eyes of the Ghanaian public?

The fine is for conviction for escaping lawful custody, according to the story. But it doesn't say anything about the status of the original charge or charges, which sent them to court in the first instance.

Let's face it. No country with fairly decent apolitical Law Enforcement and Judicial practices would allow Bail for these folks who broke out of custody, no matter how innocent they might be in the charges brought against them.

Their vigilantism should not be tolerated above and beyond our Judicial powers, especially, so long as their core targets for that activism did not dwell on anything the Judiciary had done wrong.

It is time the Judiciary put its foot down to let all Ghanaians know that it is the last stop for Justice, Probity and Accountability that the Nation is supposed to be guided by.

To relinquish any of its authority via ridiculously lenient handling of the Delta Force would be conceding how politically tainted the Judiciary is. And if I were a member of the Delta Force, I would not even welcome any such coy loosening of the grip of Law on me. That is because, if my actions were completely legal, I would like to prove that under the most stringent environment the Constitution allows.

It is most detrimental to the Delta Force and its allied Vigilante groups to have the Judiciary only slap their hands under political pressure in any cases brought against them.

If the Vigilantes are bold and really honest, they should not accept any diluted judgment in their favor.
