When it comes to water pollution (spilling toxic substances into our water bodies)in particular and the degradation and devastation of the environment in general, the worst culprits are the international corporations. They are however shifting all the blame to the galamseyers and instigating all these "criminalization" & "demonization" of everyone else except themselves.However, if the big guys should think out of the box and lift the veil by for example staffing the EPA, with dedicated,motivated and competent employees who cannot be bullied and cowed by this so-called multinationals we will see who is actually destroying Ghana. This is not to discount any effort to check the illegalities by the galamseyers but to draw attention to the fact that Ghana is being shortchanged and being ripped off by these multinationals rather. They are exploiting our lack of capacity and rapacity with no accountability. All the regulators are not performing to expectation. At Minerals Commission for example, the CEO, who was once a spokes person for these big mines in an extraordinary turn of events metamorphosed into a CEO. How can such a man be impartial and unbiased. Go GRA, these big mine are having a field day evading taxes because the managers apart from having capacity constraint are greedy on top. For these big mines after all the bullying, including having the wherewithal to hire local experts and their flamboyance and sophistication to bully politicians to enter into give away contracts with them, the little which is supposed to remain in Ghana is shifted and repatriated away through the manipulation of transfer prices to tax havens. I tell you, the galamsyers can easily be dealt with. The bigger issue is our capacity to leverage what is due the country in our relationship with these multinationals.

Just imagine the huge money involved, even the person in the middle of this issue has said he will pay the money and so I don’t understand why those around him are fighting for him. “A person who does not have the nation at heart has issued dud cheques to an institution which is against the laws of the country. “Our party is in power now and we have the majority hand in parliament and so if the NDC are not comfortable when people are punished for squandering states money then the majority should make a law that will see to it that all those who are against such act and are always talking about political witch hunting are transferred to the Gambaga witch camp because they are all witches and don’t want the country to move forward” he said.
