In fact misuse of diplomatic privileges should result in taking the diplomatic passport away from the culprits. Let's see what parliament does with this issue. My guess is probably nothing.

This has brought shame on the House and a clear statement would dispel any notion that the House condones this fraudulent carry-on. But of course, this is Ghanaian society where fraud and deceit is the norm and is deep in our DNA, and sadly MPs are no different from the rest of us. Begging is pointless and will be utterly useless, as the High Comm will be playing it by the book, and following guidelines set out in London, something that our MPs will do well to see and take on board.

I doff my hat to Mr Benjamin, the BHC for taking these steps. Some of us have suffered visa refusals at a cost, due to the actions of a few like these dishonorable MPs.

Jon Benjamin owes this man an apology for treating him as a common criminal as his letter to the Hon. Mike Ocquaye suggest. I'll advice the Hon. former minister to appeal the case by writing and making a cogent defense rather than showing weakness by apologizing. He's done nothing wrong!

If the daughter refused to come back with him as planned, he should have notified the British authorities about it. Unlike Ghana in Britain it is the law that speaks. Jon Benjamin is only applying the sanctions that apply to breaking the law. Period.
