If this is true then the government must get ready to receive our citizens and infuse them back into the system.Majority of them have aquired skills,vocations and education which will be very benificial to the country.Those who may want to go into farming must be afforded the means to do so in Northern region or other regions where land is available.If this report is true then the government has an ample time to prepare for their arrival.A word of caution-Failure to prepare and adequately assimilate them back in our system will result in multitudes of angry and bitter citizens who are desensitized to violence and have very little to live for roaming our streets.I don't have to draw anyone a picture of what these desparate will be willing to do.

Ghanaians arrested for overstaying their visas cannot hope for any mercy from the Trump Administration, whether or not they are clear of crimes.

It reminds me of the Reagan and Thatcher days in the 80s. Whenever the US and Britain contemporaneously have Conservative Governments, the two Nations copy the other's clamping on Foreigners.

I am not sure of what would proceed in the UK beyond netting the misuse of Diplomatic Passports. But in the USA, one may have a break so long as one stays out of trouble and lays low. However, the longer one waits in hiding the more frustrating life gets for the one. Right now, all the hopes for some amnesty in the foreseeable future have evaporated with the new US Administration. So, folks in hiding may have to draw contingency plans to return home in some modicum of dignity and without leaving their hard-earned properties behind in a sudden swoop by ICE.

It must also be advised that those of us with only Green Cards, yet to be Citizens of the USA, must watch what they say, or put out there in Social Media about the current USA Administration. Else, undue attention could be brought to the one and possible surveillance or blacklisting could be imposed on that person if he or she has ever spoken ill of the current Administration. I, for one, could also be a target. Not that I am any threat or important at all. But we could all be some dispensable nuisance that if mopped up, keeps the President's reputation all the cleaner. He loves his reputation staying high.

So, fellow diasporans, we must all learn to keep our noses clean and just do our best to return home in dignity. If you are not yet a Citizen, walk carefully on any political path in the USA, today.

In the case of the MPs, they know their diplomatic passports accord them and very priviledged status. It is thus up to them to play to the rules and up the standards of integrity we expect from law makers..

The High Commissioner is right to take the matter up with the Speaker. Hopefully the message will get through to the MPs as a whole by adopting this approach. We expect better from them

The United States President, Donald Trump has signed an executive order to allow all Ghana nationals travel to the United States without visas.
The new order, serving as a change in visa policy for Ghanaians traveling to the United States, would permit them stay in the U.S for a maximum period of 180 days for Tourism or Business purposes only. Stay over 180 days would therefore require a visa.
Trump says this measure is to strengthen trade between the United States and Ghana.
However, Ghanaians who hold dual nationality will be banned from entering the United States if their other passport is from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen — the seven Muslim-majority countries “of concern”.
It has emerged that trade and bilateral visa deals have been discussed by Trump and Ghanaian Diplomats in the States.
A source at the White House has hinted that Trump may revoke Australia’s opportunity of traveling to the United States without visas after cancelling all trade deals with the country.
Allowing Ghanaians to the United States freely is not the only order signed into force by Trump since assuming office. He has signed five new executive orders – including one to expedite environmental review and approval of high-priority infrastructure projects.
President Donald Trump signed executive orders to advance the construction of the controversial Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines.
He also signed an executive order on Monday barring federal funds from organizations that promote abortion around the world, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation, in what activists say is the president’s first major pro-life action while in office.
