Jon Benjamin, a diplomat for more than 25 years, was so happy about getting a ticket to World Cup qualifying clash between the South American countries in Santiago on Tuesday that he went more public than he meant with a posting.

Adopting a Chilean football taunt that goes "Argentines, faggots, you lost the Malvinas because you are idiots", Benjamin tweeted in Spanish, asking: "Which islands did they take off who and for being what?" But he forgot to make it private.

Even if they traveled with ordinary Ghanaian passports, the mere fact that they are members of parliament should make their cases more serious, and especially when they used their diplomatic passports for the purpose of securing visas for "spouses" and "children" to the UK under questionable circumstances.

To the 1st deputy speaker, these are members of parliament and their actions are a reflection on the institution that they represent and on Ghanaians as a whole, so stop the nonsense and see the gravity of the situation, instead of coming up with this cock and bull defense.

If we respect ourselves others will also respect us. Once my uncle told me he managed to get all the necessary clearance to enter the US by help of these our honorables but luck eluded him when the Ghana Airways colapsed within days. So you see, if we dont regard our institutions we don't have to blame them that are protecting their institutions. They represent their countries interest not Ghana's interest. I dont see any wrong doing by Jon Benjamin. If he keeps telling them in secret and they don't listen he has to make it public. it is even in the Bible. That would deter others.

His incompetent consular officers failed to do their due diligence. They could have denied the visas within their rights. So you clean your bloody house and then you deal with the dishonest MPs individually and in private without dragging our highest law making arm into it. This is standard procedure in international diplomatic practices. Who the heck does he think he is.
