When you are a public official very few things you do is private, most of your life is an open book (and that is why you have to be careful what you do) --and by the way doing visa fraud is a crime. Many nominees for high public offices and potential government officials in the law abiding countries have been dropped because of hiring undocumented domestic workers in the past. There is nothing cultural about lying or fraud. There are several things you can do for your constituents without indulging in fraud. I am glad the ambassador is calling them out.

If we respect ourselves others will also respect us. Once my uncle told me he managed to get all the necessary clearance to enter the US by help of these our honorables but luck eluded him when the Ghana Airways colapsed within days. So you see, if we dont regard our institutions we don't have to blame them that are protecting their institutions. They represent their countries interest not Ghana's interest. I dont see any wrong doing by Jon Benjamin. If he keeps telling them in secret and they don't listen he has to make it public. it is even in the Bible. That would deter others.

We have allowed them in Ghana to LORD over us and we continue to do so.
They have no regard to the laws of Ghana but we sing their praises. But in the eyes of the white man, nobody is above the law.
I will be asking our President to introduce a bill in parliament for the title HONOURABLE to be dropped and replaced with SERVANT soon.
This has nothing to do with British Ambassador respecting our MPs.

It is unfortunate and sad that UK is a country which believes in the rule of law whereas Ghana is not. In UK, no one is above the law, not even members of the royal family. The MPs in Ghana should be law abiding citizens and holder of a diplomatic passport enjoys certain privileges and must NOT abuse those privileges. They should know better when we talk about rule of law. That is why they are called honourable. If a UK citizen guarantees an individual to obtain a visiting visa, it is the responsibility of that citizen to see to it that the visitor returns to the country of origin within the stipulated time, otherwise that citizen looses thi s basic human rights. Ghanaians must learn to be law abiding. It is the only way the country will develop.

If your workers disregard your workplace rules etc. would you look on unconcerned. Have we become so morally bankrupt that even when a person has behaved ethically we should turn a blind eye to their transgressions.

How would anyone respect them when some of them are no better than riffraff,street gangsters? Some of them are no better than street pickpockets and armed robbers. People want to see them lead by example. Change starts from the head because when the head moves the rest of the body follows. Respect is always earned. If it's demanded then it ceases to be respect.

I don't think Mr Oscar -Doe really understands what the contention of the matter is---one of the applicants had the relative overstayed (for 3years) contrary to what was said to be an ordinary visit--as to who qualifies as a relative in the Ghanaian parlance here is irrelevant to the Commisioner--whether if it a whole community or not
The other one in question took a minor and a lady purported to be a visit and came back without both--contrary to his reason of visit---inspite of the fact that such request was granted on basis of his diplomatic passport status--
The third one took a lady he purported to be his wife and is unable to produce document to sustaintiatensure
Are these not breaches of the Visa applications of the UK immigration rules
Must we keep quiet over because of the status of the people involve--men of integrity and honorable tooo
