  If the authorities cannot maintained the inmates under the human rights specifications then they must released them immediately. Under no circumstances can the inmates be tagged or named as prisoners. It's correctional service or correctional confinement. Am wondering, if correctional services in Ghana, do have facilities to equip the inmates. Life in Ghana is so harsh in all aspects. Why jailed someone who has stolen common and basic necessities like food? Minimization of sentences of petty crime is the solution to overcrowding inmates in Ghana. Correctional inmates, can be trained in special field of farming, livestock to feed themselves. Benevolence groups are reluctant to come forward to donate for the inmates, the correctional officers steals almost all the foods, meat, and other germicidal soaps being donated to assist the live hood of the inmates.

  In the past, Kumasi Prison was feeding it's inmates from prison farms.Even the quarters provided vegetables and the surplus was sold to Komfo Anokye hospital. The satellite prison on the Barikese road supported Kumasi Prison. We used to buy livestock from the place.
  What has happened to agriculture in the Service? In this day and age, prisons with large tracks of farmland, tractors and unlimited manpower should feed itself and the public.No more pampering and wastage.

  20 Years imprisonment for a little bit stolen Goat meat fill the prisons. I am not surprised. A reform of the judiciary and lower harsh punishments bring more space and lower costs.
