  It is all well, to deploy security to flush illegal miners.. But there is another way to rein in these recalcitrant illegal miners once and for all. We have an existing law which prohibits non citizens from residing in parts of the country the government have identified as security zone. Let us invoke the law and apply it to the fullest. If there are other parts of Ghana, not covered by the existing law. A review must take into consideration, all areas illegal mining is now taking place. We cannot allow foreigners to destroy our lands and take away the prescious minerals away from the land, for a song. We will be left with a destroyed environment which would require Ghana Government going out there to ask for loans to address a problem, we did not cause in the first place. Let us take out the foreigners first, the Ghanaians who might still be doing acts considered illegal by our government, would then be handled appropriately in house.

It hurts to see the total destruction of our Environment especially our Rivers. We should not give in to these CHINESE People to destroy our land.We cannot do that in their country. I know why l am saying this because I know them very well. Back home in Ghana we worship them and the Indians. Sorry to say that but it is true.

  Stop the galansey by outlawing small scale mining temporarily. Then begin licensing then again for only Ghanaians. And regulate small scale mining with inspections and most important repairing mines lands with Regrow of trees ...

  The retail sector too must be tackled to weed out foreigners in retail. There is a law against it but no one is doing anything about it

  The fight against illegal mining is in the right direction but I have some questions to ask about the approach.
  Do we have a national plan to stop those who are mining illegally? Or we are fighting the illegal mining on regional basis. Is it the case that the minister for lands and natural resources is rolling out his programs and activities to stop the illegal mining whiles the regional ministers and their security apparatus also have their own programs and activities to stop the illegal mining in their various regions. The minister gave a 3 week ultimatum for the illegal miners to vacate their mining sites. Just last week he gave additional one month for machine owners to withdraw their machines to whereever they brought them from before he strikes. Now Ashanti region is doing its own operations. Is it in line with the minister's directives ? I think we should be one boat to fight illegal mining in other to avoid creating confusion in the system.
