Most of these accidents happen due to incompetent driving,bad maintenance culture and the use of imported spare parts of old discarded foreign vehicles.The government should ban the importation of second hand spare parts.

These accidents have nothing to do with used automobile parts. Old used parts are also used in the U.S. but you don't see any such problems. Check any mechanic's shop, and they use those parts, including used tires, and the cars don't have the problems that confronts drivers in Ghana. The problem is at least 4 fold-bad single lane roads; lack of repairs, really really bad driving habits, and use of improper parts.

Any driver can carelessly kill and attribute it to brake, do the police have mechanics amongst them to evaluate and confirm the brake failure or they just accepted it from the driver, what else could he say to defend himself after killing a medical doctor and a senior nurse ? And even if truly it was break failure what was the driver taught in driving school regarding break failure ? still accelerate till you hit and kill ?

My experience on cape coast accra road is that our drivers need to be punished severely, even given death sentence for deliberately killing. When a driver can't see over a curve, or sees an on coming vehicle approaching at top speed, less than 100 meters yet he refuses to wait for this on coming vehicle to pass but foolhardily tries to overtake, collides and kills many healthy people, should this driver not be sentenced to death? overtaking at short distance is not a mistake we should forgive, not following the far right on a curve is not a mistake. bad roads are not excuse for accidents because no driver speeds on bad roads. yes weak parts and mechanical faults do cause accidents but from what i see on cape coast accra road it's a deliberate stupid driver indiscipline and gross disregard for class one basic driving rules that has made traveling in Ghana more scariest than isis invaded Iraq and Syria. What about a dualised roads with trees planted in between to prevent cars from ever colliding heads on ? what about passenger trains from accra to takoradi and accra to bolgatanga and takoradi to kumasi to sunyani, accra to Ho etc ? I expect nothing less from the ministry of railway devt. RIPP Doctor and Nurse!
