It is not enough to give an edict "Amend Curriculum to suit Industry". It is the responsibility of the president to determine the direction of the country. take stock of human capacity inventory and provide the right incentive for people to go into those area.
The incentives could be in the form of grants and scholarships.
As an example if we need to compete on the world market, than we need people with production know how. People with supply chain management. For quality products, people with quality assurance etc. So our bright students should be provided incentives to go into those area.
This blanket of mushroom universities, all of which are offering marketing and religious studies to thousands of students are doing more harm than good, turning out graduates with little potential of employment.

Ghana doesn't have the competent teachers, lectures, professors in technical subjects to make it possible to change the curriculum which industry is look for.We need CNC operators, welding engineers, ventilation technicians, software designers,CAD programmers, Electronics engineering technologist, food processing technologist. It has to start at the teachers training schools . The other alternative is to bring in private schools from South korea, japan or china to operate those type of schools with a focus on our industralization drive, there are millions of this types of schools all over asia and they will kill to have those types of schools in africa with tax holiday for 10 years just to train our work force with 21st Century high Tech training system.

Well said Kwame! Clearly it is the Labor market that determines the depth and type of education and skills to be taught in the Universities and other professional institutions in Ghana. Without embracing this concept will worsen the plight of University graduates and other professionals in Ghana.
Simply put the dynamics in the supply and demand curves should be the ultimate determinant of what type and depth of university and professional education in Ghana!

True. Ex Pres JM tried this. Challenge is that lecturers in the helm of affairs won't introduce subjects they are not familiar with. They can't give what they don't have. How can they make themselves irrelevant?

Akosua you are right however the government should therefore employ qualified teachers within Ghana or qualified expartriates to perform this job. The NPP government can make this happen!
