It is not true that the decline of the team started under Appiah. Indeed, after the disastrouse world cup tournament, Appiah was given a three-year contract extension by the GFA. He qualified the Black Stars for AFCON 2015 and was preparing the team when he was sacked two months to the tournament.The finals that the team reached was not due to the effort of Grant. it was the fruit of Appiah's effort, for Grant himself did nothing.
A team that qualified for a tournament with some games to spare cannot be said to be on the decline. Grant's work started after AFCON2015 and the results are there for all to see.

Nope, Mr writer, this is how Appiah has to affect the blackstars for easy results and qualifications. Defense should only have Afful(still experienced and plays great), Amartey. No more Mensah (at least for now), and Boye. He can bring in Nana Akwasi Asare, and Ampem Drobo Davidson for the left full back. Ofosu Ayeh and Afful on the right back. Nuru Sulley, Rashid Sumaila, Akaminko, and Dennis Danso for the main defense. Badu should go, just Afriyie Acquah and Partey on the right mild- field, and Wakaso and Duncan on the left. Then we keep Gyan (still good with enormous experience and inspiration to the younger players and the team, can also play second halves) keep Dede, Jordan, Acheampong, Assifuah and Astu. Bring in Kojo Asamoah, Joe Dodoo, kojo Poku, Boakye Yiadom, Dwamena, Adoma, Tekpetey(if active, can be great if given a chance). It will be very a tremendous level of competence if Akwasi Appiah can also invite great new faces like Kwame Karikari, Kevin Tano, Eric Ocansey, Dennis Appiah, Lloyd Sam, Nana Poku, Eric Sackey, John Antwi, Samuel Affum, Toric Jebrin, Ernest Asante, Gershon Koffie. See, there are many many great players out there, Appiah has to do a thorough search and he can come up with a amazing prospects to build a great team, instead of calling the same old John Boye's and Agyeman Badu's every damn time. Really disheartening and disappointing to see these same faces with no results and still owning positions like their own, sad!

Some of the players are a bit older than we think (lol). I believe a good old fashioned age vetting must take place before selection. Old bones lead to players getting injured in big games. That can be costly.
