Today, a policeman's picture dominated the social media. His crime is that he managed to arrest a common criminal, whom but for the intervention of the police officer could have caused accident, claiming innocent lives. Indeed, he might have witnessed number of accidents caused by these stubborn drivers who will not obey road traffic regulations.
It has been alleged that the policeman has been detailed to direct traffic at one of the traffic points in Accra, Anyaa area to be precised.
That, while there on duty, a driver upon seeing that the red was on and all cars preceding him stopped tried to overtook them and nearly caused an avoidable road crash. The policeman on duty swiftly allegedly signalled the oncoming vehicles to quickly park and avoid any disaster and was able to stop the offender.
That, just as he asked him to produce his license and his particulars taken, he rather rained insult on the policeman, and when the policeman tried to effect his arrest, he held the policeman by the neck but was able to be overpowered in the process. His clothings were tore in the process, after consistently struggling with the policeman. And as usual, instead of onlookers to assist the policeman bring to book the common criminal, they rather threatened the policeman to let go him and sensing danger, he let go the suspect.
Before letting go of him, the offender's dress where tore in his hands and that is what is trending. I was listening to six o'clock news and news casters, particularly Adom fm managed to call the victim and he told his side of the story nicely. Some, those who text into the program, including the host, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani hailed him...
And the law enforcer, who ever witnessed the number of deaths traffick jumping drivers have caused in this country and tried to bring the perpetrator to book has been as always crucified , both by civilians and one of his owns - Police Officers. They forget that it takes two tango.
The question I Want to ask is, is it possible that a policeman in his right sense will pounce on a suspect who accepts to follow him to the police station and strip him naked? after being caught committing crime? Or Ghanaians are now saying that the police should allow any criminal to go whenever he or she resists/ or attacks the police in an attempt to free himself from being arrested no matter what offense he or she has committed?
I am yet to hear one single Ghanaian who condemns that driver for jumping a red light, an action that has claimed ma ny lives in the past...?
But you know what, you are just making the work of the police very easy. We shall see who suffers as result of these kind of hatred for the police. In certain ountries, that policeman could have been honoured for Putting his life on the rock to right the wrong...
I refused to be pushed to say certain things that will sound very unprofessional. But we shall see who suffers...
Majority of us are with the poor policeman who was just performing his duty as a trained professional...
Let the criminal be praised - hurayyy!

Why don't you folks stand up for yourselves to say "No, leave this to Ghanaian to handle it their way." People we learn from our mistakes and that correction becomes meaningful as WE assess situations after situations.
Personally, I feel these groups think they own the rest of the world. Listen, we have to practice and learn through our culture.
What the police did is everyday exercise in our local communities when a thief is caught. So, why this one. Stand up for yourselves and tell off outsiders you can HANDLE your affairs. You NEVER learn if you have to be told.

This can only happen in Africa, there is no justification for the police officer's behaviour, and we should not entertain it, he acted outside the law, his job is to enforce the law not to abuse it.

The day some taxi driver shall cross you, scratch your car and you people who are insulting got injured you shall remember hit-and-run drivers.I personally learned from this incidence,I know what to do when it happens to me. Don't forget they are learning from you people. When you are arresting someone who doesn't want to go with you and is trying to run away and you also hold onto the struggling person's shirt or trousers what will happen? Let the guy go to court. Some of you shall know your ignorance when you have to do your national service in police service.I wish it's easy to give some of you the police uniform one day to experience what the police go through daily.Im always surprised when you educated ones too know the truth but refuse to expose it.I humbly give you assignment to take a day off your busy schedules to go to any policeman, tell him you're doing research about Ghanaian drivers' behavior on the road, and be with him until he finished the duty. There you can be better judges. The policemen are also Ghanaians so they inherit the bad behavior from you Ghanaians. Hypocrites and spirited criminals always talking ill of the police.Criminality is in Ghanaians DNA.I did my national service there and what I experienced there made me not to dream of becoming a COP.Go and interview anybody who's doing his or her National Service in Police service and you all shall become the defenders of the police.
