Obviously NPP intend implementing the ROPAL with alacrity because they feel it will work in their favour because majority of Ghanaians living abroad are perceived to be Asantes and Akyems who are traditionally NPP adherents.

We need money for our develpments and consequently we should spend our cash wisely. I would recommend PROXY voting which costs nothing. It would useful to go to Referendum!

There are three ways the PPP folks can look at why ROPAL is useless/bad idea. There is cost associated with processing of votes from citizens living outside Ghana. In the best of circumstances, Ghanaians in the Diaspora can send their votes through the mail (following absentee balloting protocol) But the process comes with a risk. Ghana's government does not know how many of its citizens live outside Ghana. There is no legal registry of Ghanaian citizens anywhere. There is a greater potential for crooked parties like the NDC and NPP to "stuff" ballots with their diabolical schemes. In the end someone is going to challenge vote counts from every nation outside Ghana that will incur a cost.

Finally it is about time Ghanaians here at home stop thinking there is anything in the heads of Ghanaians living outside Ghana that is of or can be of value that cannot be found here at home. Most of our troubles here at home come from Ghanaians who lived outside and have polished the lying, cheating and cover up skills and skimming money off the top of project funds without paper trail without getting caught. Was it not a vetted NPP appointee who was exposed for being a US citizen before it jarred his memory to "rescind" his US citizenship?
How honest are these folks and how much do they really bring to the Ghana table that should be worth all the tea in China?

ROPAL is unfeasible to implement because of the logistics involved in making it possible to vote. The country should rather use its limited resources to make it easier for voters to be able to caste their ballots without any inconvenience. Voting should be let to those who are residents of the country and are more likely to be impacted by political decisions and not somebody residing overseas. There are some misguided Ghanaians who think they should be able to vote from overseas just by sending funds to relatives in Ghana because that is a form indirect taxation. To them I say, if you want to engage in the political process, then go back to Ghana

ROPAL is unfeasible to implement because of the logistics involved in making it possible to vote. The country should rather use its limited resources to make it easier for voters at home to be able to cast their ballots without any inconveniences. Voting should be left to those who are residents of the country and are more likely to be impacted by political decisions and not somebody residing overseas. There are some misguided Ghanaians who think they should be able to vote from overseas just because they send funds to relatives in Ghana, which they deem as paying taxes to the government. To them I say, if you want to engage in the political process, then go back to Ghana

Therefore they should also have the right to exercise their franchise. Meer location cannot exclude a citizen from exercising his or her right to vote. The framers of the law had this in mind. ROPAL has to be implemented
