Did you really know Kwame Nkrumah for you to say he did not like the ashanti (you're really sick). What do you mean by that ? He loved Ghana (including ashanti region) so much that he left behind tribal sentiment in order to foster a united ghana.

Even in Ghana, the british did give military power to northern and other considered minorities yet we're not experiencing any severe commotion. The size of Ghana requires that we foster regional integration rather than federation or confederation.

The British all along knew that that is why they rejected and supported Nkrumah's independence appeal (after all the brouhaha). When the opposition who sort to halt our independence went to the British to allow ghana (Gold Coast) to be confederate or federal state they rejected it on the grounds that the gold coast is 1) small and 2)its economic prowess is interconnected so much so that federalism will only explode the safety of the nation.
NB: the British giving power to the minority was to make sure akans(majority) will not subjugate nor destroy individual minor tribes as it use to be the case. They (british) desired the same for nigeria but backfired by federalism. In other words, it is not necessarily because power was given to the north in nigeria that causes naija to implode but federalism gave the north its independent mind to surge their authority and believes as penultimate on nigerians. That is why the naija delta is also imploding because the people there with their independence assertion (since in a federal state the central government cannot ultimately impose on individual states - you see). And obviously, federalism has paved in the chance for some federal states or people to think they matter more than others...

I do believe you're considering the fact that the USA is federal nation and that makes them strong could directly be compared to a federal ghana. That assertion (if it is your intention) is completely wrong because the federalism in the states is not based on tribal lines even though there other colored people there. And because citizens of the States are exalted to know and believe that they are equal makes their practice of federalism effective and practicable...Why because USA citizens are one (united) that could not be said of ghana when each tribe (should I say tribal region) thinks it's better than the other.
