Let's face it. It's a transport company in everyone's eyes accept uber. They screen drivers (if not a transport company, why??) and deal with rider issues.
Love the service...but please call it what it is.

Uber is a modern taxi service using technology to connect drivers to passengers and making billions of dollars annually around the world, ($56 billion dollars in 2016). In bigger cities like New York, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo and others, taxi drivers can find jobs if they are out of employment, but not in cities in third world countries like Ghana. For this reason taxi drivers must rise against Uber's operations in Ghana and the government has to stop their operations. Whether they are a technology firm or not, they are picking up passengers just as a taxi service, and sooner or later taxi drivers will lose their jobs to Uber and become jobless.

Please dont not allow uber to use private vehicles to operate. This is the story they are saying all over the world. They can surely connect drivers and riders but the vehicles they use should be a licensed commercial vehicle ... read full comment

If uber is not regulated, Anyone who owns a vehicle can just connect with uber and start making money without paying any taxes.

The uber service is a taxi service - at least according to the Federal Court of Australia. The Court adopted the ordinary meaning of taxi ie dictionary meaning - see Uber B.V. v Commissioner of Taxation (2017) FCA 110.

The uber service is a taxi service - at least according to the Federal Court of Australia. The Court adopted the ordinary meaning of taxi ie dictionary meaning - see Uber B.V. v Commissioner of Taxation (2017) FCA 110.
Uber drivers are subject to VAT just like ordinary taxi drivers. This dispute should be settled in Ghana courts so we all know where we stand. If the courts adopt international practice, Uber drivers will have to be regulated and taxed in the same way as ordinary taxi drivers.
There should be no need for fear mongering and insults.
