Why even talk about"old Ghana cedis" when that currency has ceased to be legal tender for almost 10 years now. It's only the uninformed ignorant soul that does that.

On the more important question of the increase from GHS 12,000 to 15,000, do you something called INFLATION? You cannot create hyperinflation in an economy and expect prices to remain unchanged. Now, some basic economics: Your price in 2014 was 12,000. Assume average annual inflation was 15%. Then by inflation adjustment alone, the 2015 price should be 12,000×1.15=13,800. The 2016 price would be 13,800x1.15=15,870 and the price in 2017 should be 15,870x1.15=18,250. Anyone paying 15,000 in 2017, is paying cheaper today in real terms than the one who paid 12,000 in 2014.

You can also look at the analysis this way. Suppose, you didn't go to the hajj in 2014. You invested your 12,000 in a fixed deposit account on which you are paid 20% per annum. You see, 20% on a fixed deposit is achievable from many banks.
With that, in 2015, you would have 12,000x1.2 =14,400. In 2016, the fixed deposit would have grown to 14,400x1.2=17,280. And in 2017 your fixed deposit would be 17,280x1.2=20,736. So, my dear friend, if you didn't go in 2014 and invested the 12,000, you can pay 15,000 and still at least 5,000 cedis for other expenses. So, 15,000 today is far cheaper than the 12,000 you paid in 2014. Have a nice my friend. This tuition is free.

It's good Dr Bawumia touched on the hajj issue this early,the authorities put together to organize the annual event must be free from the usual problems that affect Muslims every year,I was fortunate to be part last year where I witnessed Ghanaian women sleeping outside because the camp in Mina had been infiltrated by Ghanaians living in other parts in Saudi who didn't form part of the pilgrims from Ghana but managed to pay camp agents to occupy legitimate tents otherwise reserved for pilgrims from Ghana,we had tags on our necks but this agents gave the infiltrators feck tags making it difficult to detect.I think organizers can announce and give our nationals already at the kingdom of Saudi Arabia who want to join the opportunity to pay and given the right to do so.The Vice Presidents office must get involve deeply in the preparation and not leave it solely in the hands of I.C.Quare,that man can not be trusted and Dr Bawumia ll ve a lot to answer should it go wrong,he should remember the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama suffered this negative campaign from the Ndc when pilgrims encountered problems,all the membership that forms the hajj board must open their eyes very well,government must also pay for anybody they wish to sponsor and not take them for free otherwise their only tourist as thei hajj ll not be accepted.Some people see this important religious duty as an opportunity to make money,another problem was that last year pilgrims were left stranded at Muzalifa to walk to Jamarat and among them were very old people,meanwhile other nations transported their pilgrims all throughout the journey,some also walked from Mina to Makker and back to Mina,this is apaid for journey so organizers must not be allow to take undue advantage of pilgrims.I am happy Dr Bawumia is a Muslim and went through it before but maybe he had assistance from people and didn't go through what others went through but all the same he should put his ears on the ground to effect the necessary change to make it easy for our old men and old ladies this year.Hotel accommodations should not be sighted too long from Haram because it becomes expensive for pilgrims to pay daily transportation to perform religious duties,numbers of kilograms must be increased as well.Pilgrims must be given education and proper orientation here before they embark on the journey,the government through various agencies can organize this much earlier to avoid mistakes whiles in Makkah....May Almighty Allah help them organize a successful hajj 2017 ameen.
