SOURCE: CLASSFMONLINE ------ The Government of Ghana is reviewing the debts incurred by the John Mahama administration to find out whether the loans were used for the purposes of which they were contracted, Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo, has revealed.

After the review of the debt situation, the findings will be made public to enable the Ghanaian people realise how their moneys were spent by the previous administration, Mr Marfo added.

It is recalled that during the electioneering season the then main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the Mahama government of excessive borrowing but with little to show for, an assertion the then governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) rubbished because they thought they had embarked on several infrastructural projects with those loans.

Mr Marfo speaking during the National Policy Summit on Tuesday May 16 said revealed that the new government is investigating all the debts left behind by Mr Mahama.

“We are working on the numbers, the ministry of finance gives us the bulk numbers. But they do not all emanate from one source, we have some sitting in energy, some sitting in SSNIT and we are examining all. As a government and we are doing it gradually and slowly because we must be accurate.

“We want to be sure that whatever comes out finally is accurate. The government owes it as a duty to keep the nation informed about these debts and what it was used for.”

Lawyers for Alhaji Imoro from Kulendi@law were quick to ask the witness how much he himself stole from the scheme and he replied by saying, he stole a total of GH¢266,000 within the period under investigations 2013/14 service year.

He further admitted during cross examination that he has struck a deal with the state to pay back what he stole of which he has paid a substantial amount so far.

The spokesperson of the group, Kodzo Hamenya Keglo speaking at the Ghana International Press Centre said “while JM was preaching made in Ghana goods (such as shoes, batik and locally made clothes), the wife was doing the opposite by printing T Shirts from China which is a huge disappointment for Ghanaian printing companies.The 20 million pieces of T Shirts JM’s wife printed from China, could have been shared to party members to print them locally and would have created a lot of jobs for Ghanaians.”
JM’s brothers are the main reason why we lost the 2016 elections, collecting all contracts from Airport, Roads, Cocoa Board, GNPC, ECG , VRA, Ministry of Power and all major contracts in the country.“If you don’t see JM brothers, you cannot get a contract and if you see them, then you have to pay money before you get the contract, frustrating foreign contractors and companies by taking Ghanaian contractors for granted and creating enemies for the NDC party,”

Don't you people think that it could be that Alhaji Imoro only told the regional coordinators that the money was for the NDC so that they would send the money to him without any resistance or questions. Why has the main culprit, Alhaji Imoro who was arrested by the NDC and charged for the offence and put before court, not saying that he sent the money to the NDC? The problem in Ghana is we don't know how to follow the trail of money. Also lots of the corrupt transactions are done by cash so makes it hard to follow the trail through the banking system. We should let these criminals give us proof of their assets and wealth as well as stop this nonsense of letting thieves pay back stolen money without jail time.
