How can a party whose former leaders prez. Kuffour started construction of regional hospitals say that a regional hospital being reconstructed or refurbished is a waste. That would have amounted to discrimination or double standards. It's in the vein that npp said the kasoa interchange cost is inflated and wanted ndc to come clean of the actual cost. Please let's for once as a nation put party politics aside and be ghanaians

Expatriates ‘rush’ for jobs at all-new Ridge Hospital

The 420-bed facility was first commissioned by former President John Dramani Mahama

Head of Surgical Unit at the refurbished Ridge Hospital says the resplendent edifice is a source of attraction to expatriate medical practitioners.

Ralph Armah said both workers and patients are now happy to move into the facility and provide the needed services since the perennial problem of shortage of bed no longer exists.

“For us, it’s having this hi-tech thing [facility] that has allowed us to have some expatriates working with us, he told Joy News' Maxwell Agbagba shortly after the formal opening of the facility Wednesday.

“So for every unit in the Surgical Department, the skill was there but the tool for working was not so workers and patients are happy to move into it and the increased bed capacity would help us to work well.

The 420-bed hospital commissioned by former President John Mahama in November 2016, replaces the colonial structure which was built in 1929 and had only about 190 beds.

It comes with modern technology to equip the medical staff to provide services for patients who hitherto, would have to travel to China, India and South Africa to undergo certain types of surgery including tummy tuck.

Unlike the case in many of the country’s health facilities, Mr. Armah said the new Ridge Hospital can produce its own oxygen, generate power and supply water for internal use.

“The facility The case previously was that we used to buy oxygen…but this facility everything has been done so that we don’t have much difficulty with generation of power, oxygen and water. It’s generally a complete hospital running all by itself so that’s what we are happy about”.

For some of us who know the whore and dangerous tribal bigot Linda Vanotoo's clandestine activities on the ground we are not surprise at Dr.Anaba's predicament.This was a woman who as the Regional Director Of Health Service in the Western Region targeted and ejected virtually all doctors with northern background from the Region.The issue of ethnocentric bias,prejudice,discrimination and hatred is a big problem in Ghana's public institutions.Of course one could blame Dr.Anaba's problem as peculiar to politics as he appears to be sympathizing with the NDC Government of John Dramani Mahama during the industrial action by doctors at the time.Strictly and professionally speaking Dr.Anaba did nothing wrong in opposing an industrial action supported by the GMA judging by medical ethics and professional conduct clearly spelled out in the Hippocratic Oath and Health Service Code of Conduct.The problem have to do with the Ghana Medical Association that refuse to be professional and apolitical in the discharge of their duties.The conduct of the GMA have had rippling ramifications effect on the efficiency performance of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council that administer selective justice on the basis of cronyism and nepotism.It leaves much to be desired if Linda Vanotoo was at hand to witness a handing over ceremony with a 2 hour ultimatum when the very Regional Director denied knowledge of antecedent events before the withdrawal of her medical superintendent.It smacks of callousness,diabolism and overt mischief in the context of hypocrisy and double standards.Let's assume benefit of the doubt in wrongful appointment by the erstwhile Mahama Administration or termination of contract on grounds of incompetence and mismanagement by the current administration,what support has the Regional Director of Health Services given to her Regional Hospital Director?What sort of recommendations or otherwise were made by the Regional Health Director prior to the transfer,termination of appointment or otherwise of Dr.Anaba?Until our institutions begin to be professional free of cronyism,nepotism,ethnocentrism and dirty politics;institutional paralysis and collapse will be inevitable.This particularly holds true for the health sector impregnated with overt tribalism and politico-tribal sentiments usually taken full advantage of by unscrupulous characters to persecute and victimize colleague professionals.The virulent and dangerous Linda Vanotoo is on record to have forged a mental illness on a junior colleague with the help of tribal surrogates at Ghana Health Service headquarters to have him dismissed and in the process destroyed his life just because he was a northerner not fit to work in Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and the Western Region.This kind of dangerous mentality is what breeds suspicion and indeed is killing Ghana.This is what affects our political,public and economic lives because our judgement is clouded by tribal prejudice and sentiments.Irrespective of whether Dr.Anaba's appointment was on merit or not ,there is no doubt his colleague doctors led by Linda Vanotoo worked to undermine him.It is increasingly becoming clear that whiles Southern Ghana have become a nightmare for doctors of northern extract,the reverse is true where Northern Ghana is a safe haven for doctors of southern extract.The average northern doctor is faced with a puzzle and delima because of the destructive behavior of our own people towards their own native doctors.Anaba's experience and many others draws a useful lesson that it is about time unity is forged devoid of recrimination,backbiting,blackmailing sabotage among other destructive tendencies associated with the average northern practitioner that even make medical practice difficult in our own regions as natives.It is a big lesson to Dr.Anaba in particular when a colleague northern practitioner have a problem,you don't make capital out of it,be it political,personal or otherwise particularly if you have no idea of the person or the problem.It is a wake up call that northern practitioners just like our southern counterparts must have unity of purpose devoid of destructive and retrogressive tendencies to make our own backyard attractive and conducive to our survival that will not force out us to be frustrated,ridiculed or humiliated.The likes of Linda Vantoo have a very backward and primitive mentality about the north akin to colonial prejudice,hence her several encounters with northerners wherever she finds herself.Her over tribal sentiments and ethnic prejudice have become obsessive and compulsive to pathological proportions.Even in the Western region alone she has had as many as 10 confrontations mainly with northern practitioners and has openly declared her dislike for northerners on a number of occasions.I wonder if she could do that in a place like Nigeria without being shot in the head but for the peaceful nature of Ghana.
