Action Movement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the former first lady, Lordina Mahama and the siblings of former President John Mahama of being the cause of NDC defeat in the 2016 elections. The spokesperson of the group, Kodzo Hamenya Keglo speaking at the Ghana International Press Centre said “while JM was preaching made in Ghana goods (such as shoes, batik and locally made clothes), the wife was doing the opposite by printing T Shirts from China which is a huge disappointment for Ghanaian printing companies.The 20 million pieces of T Shirts JM’s wife printed from China, could have been shared to party members to print them locally and would have created a lot of jobs for Ghanaians.”
JM’s brothers are the main reason why we lost the 2016 elections, collecting all contracts from Airport, Roads, Cocoa Board, GNPC, ECG , VRA, Ministry of Power and all major contracts in the country.“If you don’t see JM brothers, you cannot get a contract and if you see them, then you have to pay money before you get the contract, frustrating foreign contractors and companies by taking Ghanaian contractors for granted and creating enemies for the NDC party,”

Anyone who still thinks about youth and agriculture, must have lived fifty years ago. Such person's thoughts may be hinged on hoes and cutlasses and perhaps, bullocks and strong people behind, to push and make the donkey or cattle work long hours. Strong young men!. I get some bumps when I hear people in authority talk about the youth and agriculture. I will be convinced, if I am told which of the successful producers of food any part in the world, have used the youth in this endeavor. Even here in Ghana, when have we chosen a youth as a best farmer? We have done this annual ritual for close to thirty years. Records will prove, that successful farmers, here in Ghana, have been mostly, people in their mid thirties or more, who have been exposed to the work environment at some point of their careers. He may be a fitter, mason, clerk, storekeeper, or the like. Some of these may be illiterates or semi literates. But they have somehow fed the nation. Middle managers of different professional backgrounds in varied occupations, have made decisions to terminate and go into farming. They have usually been successful of their decisions. This is the way to go and this must be encouraged. Officials must get it that we cannot succeed with hoes and cutlasses anymore. This is where the youth have a cutting edge.
