  I read about the case involving a woman's property and the UT Bank owner on Ghanaweb over a year ago and it did not make sense to me. There was something fishy about the court case, where the UT Bank owner won against the woman. Now if this is what really happened, then there was miscarriage of justice. The judgement must be set aside and the case retried.
  
  Second, this is a case of fraud so the lawyer must be prosecuted and if found guilty, jailed because the property had a very high value. How can the Legal Council suspend this fraudster lawyer for only six months instead of being banned forever?
  
  Finally, how could the then Supreme Court Justice sit over this case when there was some past family relations? That is conflict of interest and she should not have got involved with the disciplinary hearing. The lawyer could also appeal against his ban. This can happen only in corrupt and lawless Ghana.I hope the woman is able to retrieve her property from the UT Bank owner and sue him for compensation.

If we are to be serious about fighting corruption and some of those social vices, our policy makers are going to have to take a second look at themselves and their actions. The General Legal Council seems discriminatory, indeed!
