These lawyers are the cause of our problems. Using the presence or otherwise is a point of law makes the whole issue too cheap! Because the rest of us know no law, these legal whizzkids bambooze the rest of us sufferers into oblivion, but we will survive.
The AG overlooked the phrase "on exit" and stressed the importance of the 'comma' to justify the illegal payments of ex-gracia. One can see that the idea of ex-gracia was introduced for presidents who cannot come back to the presidency after the two-term limit, but there is no such limit for MPs. So Glotia should come again and defend why we must foolishly waste our resources on these over-elevated individuals. Come to think of it - some of these MPs fail to make a single contibution in the house for the whole four years they are there, but collect the ex-gracia, use some of it to campaign for nother chance to collect another ex-gracia for no work done. This cannot and must not be allowed to continue!!

In my opinion, the ex-gratia introduced by Kuffuor before he left office is the most controversial, corrupt and fraudulent law in the history of Ghana and must be scrapped immediately. Ghanaians are sleeping, and all they do is insult, partisan politics which paves the way for the politicians to rob the State.

In September last year, I wrote against this ex-gratia and suggested its abolition but people thought it was from a child. It is the gate to suck the nation to death. I still suggest a retrieval from any one who has taken such money because if we have to build the nation then parliamentarians must set example.

The spirit of the law as common sense dictates is that should an MP be voted out he or she may need assistance to survive. However these goats have decided it is now a 4 yearly bonus regardless of circumstances.

i wonder why this AG would see this Article 114 and still try to defend this package for serving MPs.
This is abnormal.

How can one who still getting paid income collect ex-gratia...makes no sense...this is politician colluding to take us...these same politicians enjoy free housing, gas, electricity and even maids...apart from that most of them are very corrupt...we thank agbamava for bringing this up..you are a real patroit...the question is how do we get the same people who are enjoying ex-gratia every four years to change the law...sometimes its best to take the law in our own hands ..if the cj believes its wrong but its the law.
