  Africans are not doing so well because they continue to repeat the same errors over and over by specializing in the sale of commodity goods (natural resources) instead of focusing on processing and having a manufacturing base in in their respective countries.
  
  Clearly, countries with the widest range of sophisticated processed goods/services that meet fully the needs and wants of both global consumers and local consumers are the ones with the most vibrant economies, higher standard of living, strong currencies and higher GDP.
  
  This benchmark can only be achieved in an atmosphere of honesty, accountability, and morality in an corruption free environment. Also the key to success means Africans must be able to be critical thinkers , problems solvers and also applying their academic knowledge and skills in spearheading development.

  In such a society nothing works and no matter how talented its people are that talent would not find an avenue to channel its efforts and it becomes a waste.
  
  That is the why the worst perfoming student in Ghana who may have no hope of a future after school can go to the US and channel his limited talents and become successful, buying a house, taking care of his family and having a secured future.
  
  In Ghana and Africa you need to break the law and steal to acquire these advantages!

  Very well said prof. Yes we tend to do well overseas because there is equal playing field for everybody here. No bribes before you open business, receive services and so forth. Back home in Africa people take our hard earned money which are supposed to be used for projects and squander them. Any investments we undertake there unless we are home to manage them are mismanaged by corrupt individuals. Unless we change our mindset we gonna wallow in underdeveloped for a long time to come. Also, our govts.should apply the law to deal with corrupt officials to serve as deterrent to scare people from corruption.
