SOURCE: CLASSFMONLINE ------ The Government of Ghana is reviewing the debts incurred by the John Mahama administration to find out whether the loans were used for the purposes of which they were contracted, Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo, has revealed. After the review of the debt situation, the findings will be made public to enable the Ghanaian people realise how their moneys were spent by the previous administration, Mr Marfo added. It is recalled that during the electioneering season the then main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the Mahama government of excessive borrowing but with little to show for, an assertion the then governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) rubbished because they thought they had embarked on several infrastructural projects with those loans. Mr Marfo speaking during the National Policy Summit on Tuesday May 16 said revealed that the new government is investigating all the debts left behind by Mr Mahama. “We are working on the numbers, the ministry of finance gives us the bulk numbers. But they do not all emanate from one source, we have some sitting in energy, some sitting in SSNIT and we are examining all. As a government and we are doing it gradually and slowly because we must be accurate. “We want to be sure that whatever comes out finally is accurate. The government owes it as a duty to keep the nation informed about these debts and what it was used for.”

I do not know Martey and I do not know Allotey-Jacobs, but between the two men, I would give more credibility, sagacity and gravitas to Martey. Like Martey, I make comments on what I see on the ground in Ghana. Regardless of which political party is in control, if I hear of anybody in that party suddenly carrying millions of dollars in cash to London or New York, I begin to ask questions. I do not seek or want ANY position in any Ghana government - current or future. I will not become a Regional Minister, and suddenly build a house or buy a car. I will not comment of the tenure of a government which has been in office only four months. I did not make such comments when the NDC took power eight years ago, and I will not do.it now. Human nature being what it is, I fully expect the NPP government yo screw up from time to time. It is already showing signs of maladministration, such as the recent squabble between Djaba and Naabu. When there is enough basis to criticise, I shall do so but not before. NDC officers such as Allotey Jacobs, and Anyidoho and Kong Adams have their jobs to err about so they cannot stop being partisan, but they have zero credibility and gravitas.

I'm yet to see an NDC government appintee who had never taken bribe. Please show me one person. May be apart from Prof. Mills of blessed memory. It was for that reason that he was murdered.
Is Prof. Martey not a Ghanaian? Hasn't he got the right to express his opinion on national issues? What is the connection between him and the NPP? Where is the proof of this stupid allegation of bribe taking from the NPP.
Please take note that bribe taking is the stock in trade exclusive to the NDC. If you want proof, wait until the the office of the special prosecutor is established, and the whole world will hear of you.
Please leave prof. Martey alone and let him exercise his freedom of expression without fear or favour. The current president has been criticized by this man of God. Has any NPP government official made any statement aligning the Prof. to the NDC?
The prof. will continue to express his views on national issues, and if the NDC faithfuls still suffering from kpokpobribri don't understand, they can go and burn the sea.
