Towing of broken down vehicles is done as a safety precautions against road accidents, and this practice is done in almost every civilized country. There should be a charge for SUV with 2.4cc to 3.5cc as against buses and others who pay 80 cedis a year. It will be cheating since most of these SUVs are new and never used on regular basis.

Towing insurance is very good. If drivers would buy it on voluntary terms,.no one would make it mandatory. But we are like goats, have to force the rope on our neck. So mandatory is the only way forward.

It should rather be operated on pay as you call basis, drivers shouldn't be asked to pay upfront. With my experience in Ghana, the towing operators will go to sleep as soon as they collect the money upfront.

The question of mandatory must be registered under the state insurance company.
if not under insurance policy then the owner of the vehicle may had the right to claim the money back if nothing happened to the vehicle throughout the year that had requested for a towing help.

If government wants everybody to buy this kind of insurance as that provided in developed nations, let them do the right thing. The argument is if my vehicle does not ail along the road side or per chance l get to a way side mechanic shop on time to have it fix for me what is the rationale of paying an advance towing fee for?

Parliament can enact a law to empower regions for private people to go into the vehicle towing business which will create jobs. As usual Regions and Districts Administrations can collect their taxes from the towing fees to cushion their kitty. Who ever proposed this advance vehicle towing fee is a dickhead.

We were in this country when tow trucks we given to police and even fire service for that purpose but as at now where are they. Please mentain our roads and we will have less spoilt vehicles on our roads and stop using every means to take moneys from us.

Don't mind those who always try to assume that the US has a better system than Ghana, a lot of times they are lying, in New York, for example, when a car is towed, the owner has to pay $125 for illegal parking, another $85-$100- towing fee, plus additional charges for any outstanding violations, some towed cars can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to be retrieved.

Some 21st century slaves would sing praises to their masters regardless of how many lashes they receive daily.
