When you are young you don't make fun of short people because you will grow to be old one day. Our Ghana wasn't like that during Gen. Acheampong's time and never during Dr Hilla Limann ' s time there was discipline in the country with respect to elders,until some people from uncultured homes with their primitive behaviour got power and have infected the whole country with their uncivil and bad up bringing haviour. Everything in Ghana is basaaa not until Ghanaians do away with the ndc and never ever give them power again our country will have no peace. My prayer to God is to give the president the courage and wisdom to turn around our country for harmony to reign. I blame Ghanaians for giving the ndc another chance in 2009 because if NPP had continued to this day this country would have moved mountains down for Ghana to be a beautiful city on a mountain south of the Sahara. When the Police cannot do their work, what would you rather have the Nation do in situations like that? Come on, be fair!

This national problem of Galamsey was long neglected which is why it has taken so deep a root that, now, some innocent lives are being lost in efforts to stop it.

The Soldiers themselves do not like being deployed in this way. They would rather go to the War-Front to either help guard some early Peace, or fight the bad, aggressive sides. That is when they can fully apply their skills acquired. In a situation like this, they feel it is their duty to help patriotically to restore order but they are limited in the force they could apply to fend for themselves, if attacked.

Now, if we do not want the Soldiers in our mist, then we better get our act together, and demand that our local Law Enforcement personnel do their job. When we have such Law Enforcement personnel gone bad to collude with the criminals, we could only fall on the soldiers to help.

Even in the case where some soldiers had been surreptitiously hired to protect the bad guys, it would still take other soldiers to come in to drive them away, not the Police.

So, we should be careful what we wish for. This case must be fully investigated. Some say the attack was premeditated, even planned much earlier on. We must know who was behind it and why.

I have seen how some are injecting politics and tribalism into the case. Some say he was targeted because he was a Northerner; others say he was killed because he was related to former President Mahama; others say he was killed because he was sent to protect the bad guys who might have been hired by some top Military Officers.

Whatever the motive, the killing was inexcusable. Even if the deceased soldier was suspected to be an accomplice to the Galamseyers, soon after over-powering him, he could have been sent to the Police for legal processing and prosecution.

The whole culture of mob justice is primitive, dangerously wrong, and does not often result in real Justice. We must not encourage it. However, it seems like People resort to that when they get frustrated that the normal Law Enforcement has run out of integrity and cannot protect them anymore. Self-restraint and commonsense strategies are what could maintain the necessary balance. Not taking the Law into our hands.

My heart goes to the family of the dead soldier, and I hope the murderers are brought to Justice. Ghana must not allow that culture to prevail. Now, 'the hunter would be the hunted'. Why would any sensible folks put themselves in that situation?

They were interested in finishing and they continue to say that 'he is not dead yet, lets finish him, kill him", e.t.c. Usually in Ghana when a thief or armed robber is caught and being beaten you will continue to hear the name thief, armed robber e.t.c. but in this case nothing of such is mentioned. They were only interested in killing him, meaning they knew something, they targeted him and knew his name and where he come from.

The criminal-minded exploits the general feeling of dissatisfaction or anger in the group to incite them to commit the crime. There's always the likelihood that the instigator might be lying or hyping the reason for such action. And the mob would often realize it was had. But it might be too late, as in this case.

As a Nation, and having come this far in modern civilization, we must not let our anger or even hatred of one another get the better part of us. In our extreme provocation, we are still expected, as civilized folks, to let the decent, sensible thinking part of us take control to lead us seek redress by the right processes. We do not have to resort to violent reactions to find any resolution to the situation. Even in the case of a spontaneous violent eruption, we always have some temporal space to quickly make the right decisions, and if we follow through with the crime, we just failed to utilize that window appropriately to prevent the violence.

I cannot see how the murder of the soldier could be justified under any circumstances. It is simply a criminal act that someone led a group of angry folks to commit. And it shouldn't go unpunished. Period!

I hope we all learn a lot from this sad situation, and not let other evil folks mislead us into unnecessary, misguided vengeance.

Captain Mahama wouldn't for his life had jogged close to the place alone or even in the company of a coupe of his men if he knew the folks were against the presence of the military nearby. The youth wouldn't have dared to even beat him up if they knew he was a military man; even if they knew and had planned it, none of them would have stayed in the community to wait for the arrival of the army. A careful look at the video all points to instant justice gone wrong and it should serve as a big lesion to all of us. We shouldn't wait for the victim to be a military man, a policeman, a politician, or some prominent person in the society before we realize instant justic is barbarism and must be cubed. To say it was planned to me sounds more borne out of emotional reasoning in my humble opinion. May the soul of the young man test in peace.

It's wrong for people to take the law into their own hands to punish suspects without recourse to the law. Mob justice is very common in Ghana. This particular lynching has generated national outcry, because the victim was an army officer. Without trivialising his death, this is not the time for revenge. What is required is the massive education of our people on the injustice inherent in the killing a person suspected of committing a crime. This is the responsibility of government, through the appropriate organs, to mobilise all necessary resources, to fight and uproot the cancer of mob justice from the body politic. If this goal is attained, then this officer's death would not have been in vain. The exhortation to the military to "kill them too", arises from irrational emotion. Two wrongs do not make a right. If mob justice is to be condemned, then military brutality should equally be condemned. Soldiers have no justification to kill civilians because one soldier has, unfortunately, been lynched. A soldier's life is important, but so is the life of a civilian. No life is more important than another. All lives matter, and the law should be allowed to take its course.

These things don't happen in the Volta Region where the citizens are more educated. It only happens among the Akans who refuse to educate their children.

how could they a soldier like this? the one to defend the nation to die this way is very bad. but before this happen we have to remember too what his men did too. that is ghana for, a country where citizens knows nothing about their right, how did the chines get to that place? through the government? by our politicians? through the same police and the soldiers? these are the question we have to answer before we can reach to the heart of thr case.what leads to this very case is the corruption.the nation is corrupt . the citizens from this area blame him for leading his men to molest them instead of molesting chines who lead them to deviuos act. military capo said we are not going to fight them this show he himself is not a professional army commander. how could say this, are going to use the same weapon the nation bought for them to defend the nation against the same citizens? while we have an investigation group and police who are to work on it? president Akufo Ado must reflect on it well...so sad to see a young captain to die like this WAY

Can you imagine,if this had happened in any small village in the Northern part of ghana.The whole of the three Northern Regions will have been combine together and ruin with insults.The duplicity and hypocrisy of some Ghanaians is beyond ridiculous.This is a lesson for all of us,as Ghanaians.Mob justice has no place in the twenty first century.It's unthinkable.trust me a fellow country man makes me feels unwanted in my own country,just because I could not spoke the same language as him.Travel and see,the Blackman is the least respected human race on face of the planet.When other countries are making scientific breaking through,we're lynching each other.I hope the death of this falling hero,will not go invein.I hope it will help open up the conversation of the barbaric and outdated practices of the Ghanaian society.Am also making an appeal to powerful institutions like MTN,Tigo,Airtel Vodafone to set am account,so that sympathizers of this man can donate what they have.At least that will go a long way to help the children and the wife he left behind.Shalom
