Nana Akufo Addo and his henchmen must face retributive justice by the military
To uphold national security, Nana Akufo Addo and NPP must face retributive justice by the military. National security is a measurable state of the capability of a nation to overcome the multi-dimensional threats to the apparent well-being of its people and its survival as a nation-state at any given time, by balancing all instruments of state policy through governance. As Ghanaians have decided to take a common direction to promote national development others thugs collectively known as NPP sympathizers with savage mentality strategized to create post electoral chaos since the election, attacking citizens who do not share their views, either robbing them of their properties, and cruelly lynching and slaughtering law enforcing personnels like Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama; just because they grabbed power through the lies of Nana Akufo Addo and his “all die be die” strategy and 419 schemes.

Following the official declaration of the last presidential electoral results, Nana Akufo Addo through his NPP thugs has been engaged in acts of terrorism and sabotage of the State and undermining personal security the citizens of Ghana. Security threats involve not only conventional foes such as other nation-states but also violent non-state actors; and it is sad to state here that in the case of Ghana, NPP can be categorized as non-state violent political group. National security is best described as a capacity to control those domestic and foreign conditions that the public opinion of a given community believes necessary to enjoy its own self-determination, prosperity and wellbeing.

It is time that Nana becomes aware that national security is the protection of citizens and territory from physical attacks which are considered as essential to the fundamental values and the vitality of the State. In other words, national security is the ability of Government to preserve the nation's physical integrity and territory, to maintain the survival of the State through the use of appropriate legal power to contain threats by using counterintelligence services to protect the nation from internal threats from NPP. Nana must also be aware that political security is about the stability of the social order. National security is also a blend of political resilience and maturity; and in this post-election era in Ghana, upon all the provocations from the main losing party NPP, Ghanaians from different political walks appear to uphold resilience, maturity and political security by not reacting to the provocation.

The comportment of Akufo Addo and that of his thugs is a threat to national security, thus retributive justice must be applied by the military in order to send a message to Nana that they should not repeat those violent behaviors again. When a chronic offender like Nana Akufo Addo breaks the law, he thereby forfeits his right to play key role in Ghana politics, and justice requires that he is arrested by the military and punished accordingly and that his NPP party must be classified as a non-state actor that undermines national security, so it must be banned definitely from Ghana politics or at least be classified as such. The classical definition of retributive justice embraces the idea that the amount of punishment must be proportionate to the amount of harm caused by the offence. An alternative to retributive justice consists of declaring the transgressor NPP and Akufo Addo as an outlawed gang which we can no more tolerate in Ghana.

But as a lawyer, what would be your defence of this treatment in reference to The United Nations Convention of 1984 and also The International Criminational Court Act 2001? Finally, if one of these suspects happens to be your client and such a punishment is advocated, would you accept it or ran to the International Court of Human Rights? So far as I am concerned, if found guilty, beyond all reasonable doubt, shoot them or hang them. Many Asian countries still use the death penalty. Even the USA who criticises or accuses every nation under the sun still use the death penalty. If Amnesty has got any problem with that, they should go and solve the problem with the USA and all the other Asian countries first. I'll find it sickening and nonsense for any of these suspects when found guilty to start appealing for their human rights. Nonsense. Didn't the person they killed had any human rights?

Remember Mrs Koranteng Addo? She was a nursing mother, a judge. She was taken away from her home leaving behind her breast-feeding baby and murdered by soldiers of the Ghana army paid by the state. Until people start realising that they will suffer a similar fate after conviction by a competent court of jurisdiction this nightmare will never ever ever end. Even a hardened criminal should not die this way. Allah will fight his battles for him. This lawyer does not know that torture is against international conventions such as CAT. The culprits should be punished according to law but not tortured. Life imprisonment will the best option in this case. it is the only way that can send strong signals to would-be actors.

Are those Yemenis' actions captured during the Gulf War II in Iraq any different from the senseless act committed by the mob or instant strict justice being perpetrated by these Ghanaians and some armed robbers alike? The soldiers can be angry as much as they want, they are not above the laws of Ghana and can not, repeat, can not resort to any unconstitutional wrecklessness. Any soldier who misbehaves over the young Captain's death should be fired and court Martialled. We do not live jungle nor is the country governed by fiat. Since the gruesome murder of Capt Mahama it seems some people who should know better are losing their heads and have come up with some of the most stupid statements and utterances on how the suspects should be dealt with.

The problem in Ghana today is GREED and WANTON CORRUPTION within a rapidly changing social milieu. The country has a big problem where corruption has now overtaken all other vices and become the root cause of many crimes. After those connected to this evil act are trailed and locked up, the government should set up a fact-finding group comprising of a sociologist, criminologist and a solicitor to work on details of the court judgement with follow - up interviews to take personal information and reflections from the perpetrators, witnesses and the family of the victim. The group should also talk to a cross section of a diverse number of ordinary Ghanaians to come up with what they feel is wrong with the society. This will surprisingly question the role and impact of immigration and how Ghanaian law needs tweaking to cope with any current changes albeit the perceptions of the otherwise law-abiding Ghanaian. Also, this will enable law makers to have deeper insight into the causes, course and impact of corruption in the country and for them to accept that what is happening in Ghana requires root and branch changes in our socio-cultural systems, starting with stronger and modified laws, closer monitoring of the fraudulent police and policemen, useless churches and immoral pastors and teachers who destroy lives of two and five years old girls as well as bring some form of instant justices for common and petty crimes. This will bring some order and trust into the system for those who want to live in peaceful coexistence with their neighbours.

Those who have lost their lives in the same Ghana, are they not human being, is because it has happened to someone with visibility?people shouldn't be surprised to hear such news because if you are in lawless country that's how it. Those who have to enforce the laws are using their positions for only money and only poor people are under the law in Ghana.
