There so many versions of the story out there and each with some truth mixed with a whole lot of incredible lies. We observe a whole set of seemly unconnected circumstances that led to this unfortunate event, yes unfortunate because no one should be killed in that way not even a dog. We should look at the motives of the actors , the assembly man was acting on behalf of powerful men who had had 27 excavators seized by that unit was loosing money daily. Its evident he went for a meeting but lied to his colleagues he was going for jogging hoping to shake these criminals down for a few million dollars due to his unreasonable greed . The assemblyman being only a front-man could not approve the amounts required and a stalemate of several months would mean he the assemblyman would eventually pay for that mess with his life so opted for the only foolish quick solution he thought was available and that was to kill the captain .The captain had already been through a similar situation before when on a peacekeeping mission was captured and beaten to a pulp by the locals after surrendering his gun,so was returned home. Instead of the army discharging him or putting him under some psychological evaluation ignored the fact that he was damaged goods and gave him a new posting.Our army is now incompetent and unprofessional due to the fact that they have recruited more Ewes and northerners in order for them to use it one day to secure the colonization of Akan territories like the Hausas have done in Nigeria, this they have done and accepted substandard individuals like this captain.I have said all security agencies need to be disbanded a new ones reformed or one day things will deteriorate in a Somali like state.

Update On The Death Of Captain Mahama: More Shocking Revelations Pops Up | Here All The Gist

When the news broke of the murder of Captain Maxwell Adams Mahama, the reasons cited for this gruesome act didn’t match up. There were, in fact, more loopholes in the story going around.
In fact, it was alleged Captain Mahama went for an early jogging and he was mistaken for an armed robber because he had a gun with.

But a critical look at the story didn’t hold up. It was clear from the video circulating the man was not in a jogging kits. And also the video showed the town folks lynched him in a broad day light.

Well, the team that has visited the town to conduct the investigation has explained what really happened and it will bring tears to your eyes.

Apparently, Captain Mahama was invited to a meeting by the same Assemblyman who organized the group for the lynching.He and some group of other residents convinced him that it was for the betterment of the area. They sent an Okada guy (Motor used as a taxi) to pick him up.

The meeting took place 13kms away from his base (I am not sure Max will go for 13km jogging). The meeting (for the release of their equipment) we understand did not go well for the Assemblyman n his guys.

After the meeting, Max came to the roadside looking for a vehicle (no common in the area) and it was there he decided to buy something from some women by the roadside. That was where the women saw his pistol n drew the attention of the town folks.

They approached Max and he told them he was a soldier and that they should send him to the police station but they will have none of that including the Okada guy who picked him up.

They attempted lynching him and he fired the Okada rider’s thigh, he then tried jumping on a moving truck and Urvan ( A moving bus) but they fired both vehicle windscreens and that was when Max gave up and placed his pistol on ground n lifted his hands and they pounced n lynched him.

The ladies in the pictures/videos seen lighting fire and taking pics are members of the assembly. The assemblyman provided drinks for the mobsters after the killing.

The Assemblyman (Has surrounded himself to the police last night) and the ladies are still on the run but the military has 4 key culprits including the injured Okada rider.

A boy in the town in the town after the ‘fine treatment’ by the military finally confessed what transpired.Meanwhile, The District Chief Executive has been warned by the team to shut up.

These companies in turn demanded state protection against small scale miners and they got this in the form of these army brigades. Ask the locals on the ground, the companies have been there for years! What does that tell you? This pratt of a journalist, who received his V8 for turning a blind eye, has now found his tongue in describing Ghana as becoming a banana republic. After years of reading highlights of Kwesi Pratt, I can say that this is the first time the guy has said something fundamentally sensible, patriotic and non-partisan. Why send soldiers to protect foreign mining companies against whom? This is the duplicity of the NDC government. For all you know some NDC 'big men' are neck deep with the mining companies and hence could get the military to protect them. My earnest sympathy for the senseless death of a young man. But who sent him there? Is the job of protecting mining companies within the remit of the army? What is national defence or security about mining? Let us not be intimated by the aggressive posture of the military. IT is a public institution, funded by our taxes and they us some explanations and a serious internal review by a Civilian Committee so that Capt Mahama's death shall not be in vain.

When you send a thieve caught in the act to police station, they will just free him. Here in Accra any criminal caught is beaten to death and burnt with old car tyre. The sad aspect is innocent people are at times victims of this lawlessness. In various areas we residents of Accra arm ourselves to the teeth in our rooms and we form gangs so that if l am attacked by thieves l will call my neighbours to come to my aid and if we overpower the criminal which is often the case he is beaten to death. Some nail a long nail right in the head of the thieve to go and die later. As for the police everyone knows they can always be bought with money. Some police even rent their gun to criminals to carry out their operations. This is the naked truth about the security agencies in Ghana. The captain was not even dressed in a jogging outfit. I have the video and l am beginning to think he was killed out of desperation. Several excavators worth billions confiscated and some burnt? Maybe they were bought with loan. The small scale miners with licence must work within limits directed by the mineral commission. They were as by law expected to mine 100m from water bodies. But illegally they construct improvised floating drums to dredge the water bodies for alluvial gold. Captain Mahama may be lynched because he demanded too much as bribe from the illegal miners. Since no one is perfect may his soul rest in peace.

I have never agreed with Kwesi Part but I totally agree with him on this submission. Personally I have lost trust in the police because I was nearly lynched three weeks ago through the action of a police woman stationed at Sawla-Wa Highway. The vehicle I was travelling with was carrying shamfang, a machine used for galamsey and we were stopped for over an hour. I got down to ask what was going on, the police informed me the vehicle was carrying a contraband good. I then pleaded with the police to impound the machine so as to enable us continue with the journey. The police personnel did not heed to my plea but began with the driver for a bribe. The began lasted for three hours, I then got down and told the police to either impound the good or allow us to carry on. The policewoman told the people in the car, they wanted the driver to go but am instructing them to impound the shamfang and that was what was causing the delay. It took the intervention of God for me to have my life. The mob actions in this country can squarely be laid at the doorsteps of the Ghana Police Service. Its a shame

The villagers are also victims and dying because their environment is degraded, rivers poisoned, farms destroyed, food poisoned and the future of their children ruined. Some have been killed and threatened. Let us be Emotionally intelligent and deal with this problems widely. I wish I have the means to defend the villagers. If the army doesn't trust the police and other legal institutions how ironic for the village or for that matter the public to trust the army. I feel sad about the sudden death of this fine gentleman and soldier. If it my son, I would not be able to live a normal life again. The family should have my condolences. The root of the matter goes to the Military and our politicians. It is unheard of in Ghana for military authorities to allow greedy politicians fronting for or in partnership with foreigners to prevail upon them to carry out such duties. It shows how bad our institutions have become. Even though the perpetrators of that dastardly act should be prosecuted the blame should be put at the doorstep of the military administration and those politicians who used their political power to get the soldiers to go there. And henceforth our institutions should be brave enough to resist any attempt by politicians to use them for their selfish gains.
