  It's good new players are providing more competitor for places. But I would have loved to see many faces in the striking department. The coach has opted for the old guards. In spite of what happens on Sunday it is imperative we look out for strikers with good potential to supplementl the old guards.

  It is a small grammatical error, but must be corrected all the same. Two possible corrections: "surprised at," and "surprised by."
  
  Surprised at: suggests something took place contrary his expectation; disappointment with their behaviour. Surprised by: suggests something was not expected at all of them. This is more likely what Stephen Appiah meant.
