Undoubtedly, the government must be applauded for such an initiative, to help cater for the late Major Mahama's wife and children. The children must be supported through school (to the highest level that their brains can take them), until they start working. The fund could be redirected to support others, who suffer similar fates, in serving the country, once Major Mahama's children are gainfully employed.

If the bereaved family wishes to have a monument, then I suggest that that monument be erected at Denkyira-Obuasi, with the inscription: "In Memory of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, the soldier who was lynched and burnt to death, unjustifiably, by some irresponsible people here in Denkyira-Obuasi, when deployed to help protect Denkyira-Obuasi from galamseyers and the destructive effects of galamsey."

Should another monument be erected, it must be erected in another town where galamsey has gained notoriety.It is my desire and hope that the death of Major Mahama should mark an end of ALL galamsey activities in Ghana. Our lawmakers must even work to enact a law to recognize the efforts of Major Mahama and all others who have been working to end galamsey in Ghana. The law MUST have enough teeth to bite all who flout or break the law. That Chinese, Aisha, must be made to face the full rigours of the law, when found guilty.

And this is common sense for any leader to have even if the leader is ten years old child this simply a responsibility for every leader to do so pls stop making president. The Vice President has already assured the family of Govt's financial support towards the funeral ceremony of the late Capt/Major Mahama. So,why the request for the State Burial!.I think the most important thing is how the Wife and Children he left behind would have a normal life without persistent hardships in a Country without a Single Social intervention. Experience show that promises from individuals to help the wife and Children is appreciated but is short lived( 9 days wonder).Therefore,
the best thing is what his Excellency the President of the Republic -Nana Akufo-Addo has initiated to ensure a normal life at least,for the Children. What do the Family want a Monument for? I think the money for any such plans,if any,should be paid to Children Endowment Fund,in my personal opinion.That is the way forward.May His Soul, Rest in Peace.
