By the way, where in the US do you live, that is, if you have been there at all? The military in the US are highly respected and highly disciplined. They know that they belong to an honourable profession. They are generally battle-hardened professionals, who know very well, that their functions do not include beating or killing civilians. The military in the US are loved by citizens, because they have proven their worth in defending the Union. Can any of the foregoing accolades be said about the military in Ghana, who delight in brutalizing any person or institution outside the military? All they want is to be feared by civilians, simply because they have guns and have participated in coups. They will beat or kill a civilian at the drop of a hat. To say that the military are NOT the most beloved in Ghana, is to express attitudes towards them, in a mild way.

Moreover de military always team up to beat a policeman, guess u know wht dat means? They can't do anythin one on one with a policeman nt even de civilians, they(millitary) will be beaten. Whn a policeman disciplines one military, dat millitary man wil go back to der barracks organize two or more collegues n take reveng on dat Police man alone. Looking at dat, it means they(millitary) can only beat a policeman whn they r more dan one (in group)

This nasty violent and lawless attitude of Ghanaians is a long standing primitive habit for as long as I can remember from my childhood and I'm now in my 70s! Where do you think the word "buga buga" comes from as far back as the Colonial days?? The only reason we're hearing so much about it is the proliferation of media/online outlets in the country. So the only antidote to this violent inclination, even by our so called disciplined security agencies, is to embark on a sustained national enlightenment campaign about the rule of law and the social responsibilities of the populace including the Military and Police! The Army must also be told bluntly that the power of arrest primarily rests with the Police and not the Military outside their barracks!!
