Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

The country has been hijacked by politicians, kings, military, police etc. These group of people have placed themselves above the law. They are not accountable to any body. They are building mansions and gas stations etc and they are buying homes abroad(Cash)
