Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

The legacy you left behind was Huge debt profile, Inflated contract sums, Corruption, Thievery, Opulence, and Incompetence. Anyway, was NDC able to account for their stewardship? The Ford Expedition car Mahama received as bribe was not in the Presidential pool of vehicles. Very soon some of the NDC appointees will be asked questions bothering on Thievery and Corruption and the law will deal with them.
