Alhaji Said Sinare, who is not a even a full blooded Ghanaian, did better in protecting Ghanaians in Saudi Arabia than Shirley Ayorkor Botwe is doing. I am giving this woman a week to summon the Saudi Ambassador to her office to come and explain what has been happening to Ghanaians in his country. I hope there is not going to be a repetition of the Gambia episode which happened under her watch as a deputy foreign affairs minister.

The question is how can the person with dual citizenship be impartial in loyalty when there is an issue between the 2 countries that this person is a citizen of. The person has to be 100% loyal to his country, to serve and defend its Constitution. It is impossible to be 100% for Ghana and 100% for the other country when the 2 countries are in disagreement. You cannot have divided loyalty, that I believe is the issue.

Israel allows dual citizens to serve and look at where they are in terms of advancement. Ghanaians will always be behind, the only position in the U.S a dual citizen cannot hold is the presidency, are we claiming to be smarter than the framers of the U.S constitution? These ideas has jealousy and hypocrisy written all over it.

Without dual citizens serving Ghana, what have done since independence? Poverty, ignorance, starvation and above incompetence throughout the governmental chain. May be, you do need dual citizens help with nation building.

Dual citizens, apart from building new houses, shore up the economy of Ghana with their regular remittances. Nowadays, politicians pride themselves with remarkable development in the constituencies and the cities. Dual citizens sweat to get the hard foreign exchange and the politicians not only chop freely but want to exclude them from governance and decision-making.

The framers of the 1992 constitution had an ax to grind with Ghanaians opposed them and left Ghana for safety of the lives. There was no laws in Ghana protecting people.

I think her experience as a Foreign Minister has instructed her about the weakness of this exclusionary law for our situation? She is thinking outside the box, so to say , and it is healthy. I remember years ago in the 70s at the University , I took a course titled " critical thinking and strategy ". In one of our professor's daily pre- class quizzes ,restricted to "yes or no " answers , he questioned: " Are Choice and Decision" the same idea? A members of a study group made up of an ethic group of a shade I won't mention in the class all swore the two words are inter changeable.Those days we did not have Google to help us. The Prof. Then deadpanned to the group " isn't it instructive that you all think the same? Note , you cannot share the poverty of your group knowledge and the deficit in your thinking and expect to be good managers?" Group think and Echo chambers are the bane of failed human enterprise. He then wrote two words on the board "out of the box and diversity" as critical two factors for success in any strategy formulation and implementation.
Ras as a political leader you must understand f, talent, skills and experience are critical if we want to develop faster.we need to find a formulae to tap and mix other talents and view points into the talent and skills and experience of our gene pool. And our diaspora and other nationalities can come to help us in strategic areas. To develop faster. If we are insecured about natural born Ghanaian who become nationals of other countries out of necessity to come help us , then we will be on a slow Boat ? I remember a similar debate of importing Indian sofwere talent into Germany to help bridge the software deficit in that country years ago ? A newspaper banner said " Indien kinder Ja!, erwachhsener neine ! ", meaning they want Indian children not their adults? Germany is still not at par with America in the digital space. Microsoft, Google, Facebook , to name a few dominate. The industrial success of America in digital technology is based on flexible conscious recruitment of talent. American universities draws top talent from the world and retain the best for their industry.
We must find a way in the medium term of recruiting top talents in the sciences for our educational institutions from all parts of the world , including our public institutions and private industry. We must not straight jacket ourselves in laws and insecurities that does not advance our progress. If politicians are stuck with sovereignty , the reality is there is no such idea in a digital age. We must support Akuffo Addo s' Diaspora initiatives as a beginning.
