Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

  It is funny how these thuggery is becoming widespread. Ghana first heard of this kind of vigilantism and thuggery during the AFRC/P-NDC era when vigilantes--PDCs, WDCs and CDRs were formed or created. They were told by their leader to defy orders of authority in what was termed: "positive defiance" in situation where cadres were hungry for food and jobs, or to usurp the powers of managers of institutions to suit the interest of the supporters of their so-called "revolution" in those dark days. Let's hope that the IGP and Security Agencies in the country could rise up to the challenge and arrest this ugly situation. Ghana must work through its established institutions for total peace to prevail.
