Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

Cloth over white white shirt. Nana Addo , kufour dress like their predecessors ,just a cloth on their body. How did MAHAMA dress. As though he think he could build a new political tradition. He wear a Dagomba
dress. As a Dagomba king. As for the values and principles on which a party is formed he never even for once identified with any NDC principle. That is why some of us we lost respect for him.
