Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

  This is not true. It's rather Ghana Audit Service. Audit Service is by far the most rotten and stinking institution in Ghana. They go to do the audit, find misconduct and malfeasance (several issues) and negotiate with the corrupt officials of government institutions, take bribe from them and report a few harmless findings and hide the actually bad issues. These corrupt auditors, most of whom having low level of education, demand and extort monies from corrupt government officials just to COVER UP their rots for them. They are the reason for all the corruption in this country.
  The reason why the general public do not know that it's rather the Audit Service which is the most corrupt institution is that the general public don't directly deal with Auditors. It's these rascals of the corrupt government officials who deal with them, pay the bribe to the auditors and expectedly don't come out to say anything about such corrupt conduct.
