Please make sure their end of service entitlements are ready before they leave and not to go and sit at home paying bribes to chase up their own money..

You are very right. Teachers have no end of service benefits and their Social Security refund takes too long and a lot of bribes before they start receiving them.
What is more important is that because are not treated well financially while working, when it is time to retire, they have nowhere to go. Teachers do not have the opportunity to take bribes as other workers do and build mansions too. The only thing they can take is chalk. After working for some time, why can't the government give them secure soft loans to put up even a two bedroom house in their towns or villages. Then, they know where to go after retirement. Just treat them well, give them good working conditions and see how many will want to remain at post once they have places to go.

The government needs to rethink this 60 years retirement policy. Nowadays, 60 year olds still look very strong and capable of working longer. Most countries even in the developed world have extended their age of retirement. Get it up to 65 years for compulsory and 60 years for voluntary retirement.

The retirement age of 60 years was set decades ago and I think it should be revised upwards to 65 or 67 years. This is because, now a 60 year old person looks and feels like a 40 year old. In America, the retirement age is 65 when Social Security sets in, but even here many people continue to work past that. Ghana should follow that and people will stop cheating by changing their birth certificates.
