Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

  Franklyn, naa who cause am? If you appoint 110 incompetent ministers, that will be the result. Last year, they were making juicy promises that they will establish paradise on earth. Now they have put us in hell.

  we all know that there is nothing that there is nothing that comes free. How are they staying alive, if not corruption? I am also disappointed in the way FC, IMANI danced his words skilfully around this real issue.
