He said football (and any other work) has a spiritual element so there is nothing wrong with praying or seeking prayers before you engage in it. He also said "Mallam" is just the muslim equivalent of Pastor.

He was then asked if he has someone, a spiritual father who prays for him. He answered yes.

WHAT IS WRONG THIS THIS?

Reverend Osei Kofi was one old Black Star footballer who understood that practice makes perfect and would go to the football field all by himself to practise ball control, etc, etc. If you want to play football very well you need also to work out very consistently at the gym to build and tone your muscles, train on your stamina by running at higher elevations, and practise passing and shooting skills, etc, etc, . Sports is a discipline and you need a disciplined mind to succeed. I don't blame it all on Asamoah Gyan. The sports and fitness trainers and administrators are equally to be blamed for these lapses in our sports programs and development.
Asamoah Gyan does not even deserve to be captain of the team for he's no leader. He's a bad example and feeds voraciously on controversy. Do we have any sports colleges in Ghana at all?
