History will remember him and his organization favorably. As a born again Christian raised in poverty without the opportunity afforded most, he relied on God and studied on his own when his parents couldn't afford a secondary education. His Lord blessed him with a scholarship which allowed him progress his education at the Christian Service College and subsequently his Masters and PHD abroad. He's gone on to serve the Methodist Church, Christian Council and the National Peace Council with consummate professionalism.
For those of us who know him, we're proud of his apolitical stance on issues since the 1980s.
Yup, the Lord has blessed him beyond measure as he's completely yielded to him on a daily basis so you take your shame,disrespect and ignorance somewhere else. God is got Rev Asante covered.

Get your priorities right.Stop wasting our time with pilgrims to Mecca and Israel etc. focus on investing in more upto date ICT for our children throughout Ghana and not only just selected schools. ICT educational is not optional for our pupils but compulsory which is integral to their educational development so Govt must not mess with this aspect. Mahama was able to afford taking his wife and entire family on a shopping spree in Dubai but leaving our pupils vulnerable and desolate to be taught computer lessons using stones while pretending to be using computer mouse. Therefore I agree with Rev Asante stop wasting money and focus and concentrate on the mandate

The inference is that these men of God can afford the trips and out of goodwill are being patriotic. Within the same context, they should not debar willing christians the change to take advantage of the gesture.

Do you think it's a good idea to spend tax payers money to send individuals to Israel or Mecca while there other other priorities to tackle i.e zongos and other crumbling infrastructure?
Rev. Prof. Asante has done his bit for this country and reasonable minds recognize that. He's been outspoken when he needs to be and has remained above the fray of petty politics. You see, not everything needs to be political, you have a duty to shape a debate by being informed. Your post offers nothing but ignorance and irrelevant assumptions about the political afiliation of a man who has done more to shape political dialogue than you can fathom. Where were you, when people were crouched in hiding and afraid to criticize the government? Where were you when the then Rev Dr Emmanuel Asante and Rev Dr Samuel Asante Antwi, Bishop Akwasi Sarpong and others were out there challenging the status quo in the pulpit and in the print media? Today, you have a voice and the temerity to come on a social platform to impugn the intergrity of a born again Christian who has done more for his country than a great majority of us can dream of. He votes on policies, but he's neither NDC or NPP and that's the way it should be.What we should all care about is a nation that can advance sound policies and agenda to break the mould of the stereotypical banana republic not petty populist ideas that get us know where. Do you think it's a great use of the taxpayer's money to be providing funding for religious pilgrimage for a bunch of individuals? At the moment the topic relates to pilgrimages to Israel and Mecca. As the deputy Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister has indicated, the government is not paying for the trip but only facilitating it.
I hope Rev. Asante will be circumspect next time in whatever he says if those his utterances weren't deliberate to cause confusion among religious bodies and the government.

It is not the job of the government to be providing funds/ subsidies for religious trips be it Christian trips to Israel or Islam pilgrimages to Israel. The private sector could perhaps do that. The NPP has a monumental task of fixing a poor economy, joblessness and crumbling infrastructure. 4 years passes very quickly and voters are never patient. The poor man who cannot even buy me key and fish for himself and his children will not even dream of going to Mecca,Rome or Jerusalem it still the affluent few who has excess money to travel so why should the government get involved? Our schools are in deplorable conditions,our hospitals are place to get infected but not to cure our roads especially the rural areas are unnotorable food vegetables and even cash crops are left rotten why can't the government channel its few resources on some of our problems instead of wasting money to make"Hajj pilgrims comfortable by providing them transportation from their hotels to pilgrims site"I quote.let us as a nation have a priority right.
