OH Ghanaians! Where comes from these pessimistic attitudes? Considering how many accidents happen on our roads, as a result of broken down vehicles; how much is GHC 20 or 30? Sometimes people who demonstrate this kind of " it's never gonna happen to me" attitude really forgets that, even if it doesn't happen to them; it may hit close to their home, either a family member or a loved one. Somebody was suppose to enact strict laws to fight Galamsey but he refused, and what did we see recently? One of the most promising and handsome innocent young family member lost his life in such an unprecedented wicked way. So Ghanaians have not taken any cue from this incident? There's one thing, that I know, most of these naysayers practice occultism and feed on blood of innocent people. So they will fight with tooth and nails to prevent this law: because if accidents are minimized on our roads, it would be very difficult for them to feed on their delicacy. That's why Abronye DC likened the NDC goons as " witches and wizards who need to be haunted".

The system in Africa makes it impossible and inconvenient to tow the disabled vehicles at the owners expense. This is exactly what is happening right now, as a result, it takes too long for these owners to make arrangements for their vehicles to be towed. When their vehicles is disabled, you know Africans, they engaged in some sort of lackadaisical attitude, knowing that the inconveniences would force the police, to tow it away. And if the police tows it; records of the said jobs lose its paper trail and government is forced to foot the bill eventually. Because of this no company wants to invest in this financially risky venture. The government database for driver licensing is poor and going through serous challenges which makes it difficult to track and prosecute the defaulting drivers and vehicle owners. So, It makes sense for the government to step in and centralize the system and make more convenient.

Also motor bike and cars mechanics using the roads to do major repairs taking days. This is not legal but NO BODY is doing anything about it !!

Ordinary African,you make a lot of sense.The problem here is that,everyone wants everything for free in Ghana.In the U.K.,if your vehicle breaks down,it is your responsibility to move it.If the break down happens on motorways or junctions for example,you phone the Police who would come and secure the place so traffic flows freely.To have a vehicle towed,you call a private firm who charges a call out fee on top of the charges for towing.Most people join a motoring organisation i.e. the AA ,RAC etc.You can pay over £200 per year and they will come out to your car.If the car can be repaired,they do so on the spot otherwise,you are towed to a garage of your choice.Shouldn't there be such a scheme in Ghana?
In case of a breakdown ,drivers should put their hazard lights on to warn other road users.If your hazard lights do not work,you can be prosecuted.If you run into the back of another vehicle,it is your fault as you should leave enough space between you and the car infront of you.If you are guilty of causing an accident,you are responsible for repairing the other car and your insurance premium for the next year,would go up.It is your shout-drive safely or face the consequences.
There should be laws regulating how people behave in Ghana and the laws must be applied by the Police.What do we see?Ghana Police busy extorting money from drivers instead of ensuring the roads are safe for all.
The bottom line is,people in Ghana should take responsibility for their actions.If you decide to have a car,you should be prepared to take what comes with having one.If you cannot afford it,don't have a car.I think the scheme being proposed is bonkers.

Have those imbeciles considered the number of vehicles that will be paying the Levy? Let us assume that there are a million vehicles (there are more) paying an average of 40 cedis each, that will give us 40 million cedis: and for th information of those ignoramuses, statistics from the Ghana Road Safety Unit indicates that only five percent (5%) of road accidents occur as a result of parked or broken down vehicles on our highways. How many times, or vehicles will be towed in a year to cost anything more than even 5 million in cedis? What happens to the rest of the money annually? Are those those supporting this daylight Robbery telling us that we should be paying this money to a private company on a silver platter? Who and who will be getting cuts from the money? This will definitely be a source of open and approved stealing from us by politicians, DVLA officials and the rest of them. Ghanaians must rise against this plane thievery. The best policy, like is done in most civilized countries, is for well equipped towing companies to be licensed and allowed to tow any any broken down or wrongly parked vehicles from highways and the owners surcharged with the cost: and if any vehicle owner fails to show up to pay after a specified period, the vehicle is auctioned to retrieve cost. This is purely legalized private business!!!

You either call a towing company to tow it for you or police will call the company for you for a very handsome fees that you will never forget. What I notice here is that if you park your car on the roadside for some days am not sure of the days you see some stickers on your car telling you to move the car from there within a certain period of time else they will tow it at your own experiences. If the incident happens in on the road then the police will call towing truck against your will with a heavy fees this has avoided any road accident as a result of a broken down car on the road or roadside. I know many accidents occur in Ghana because someone's car is on the road or roadside. Such Chris removed as soon as the accident occurred. Why do we have to wait till such incident occurred before we take action? For the MPs who have not traveled outside the country I will appeal to the speaker to send them to Europe or US or Asia for six months for them to learn something before they open their damn fucking mouths on issues that can save lives in Ghana. Your roads are bad and along the same roads are the broken cars what would you expect to happen? Here people pay for roadside assistance few to our insurance companies or AAA and other companies to carry on such duties at owners expenses. I am hereby appealing to Ghanaians to reconsider this again and implement such laws it will help us and save lives too.
