In the recent past (I am still quite young), we used to get an egg from our parents as a reward for coming first in terminal exams and that was motivating enough. It will rather encourage others to learn hard so that they can enjoy good chicken soup come next our day party. What is the use of a laptop to a school pupil in a community without electricity? It is only in Ghana that the wife if a sitting Vice President will donate Computers to a school without electricity when the school had no chalk and registers. Those talking about a ticket to a mall should know that malls are only in the big cities. It us even possible that the award winners preferred the chicken. Find out why that prize instead. BRAVO FOR THE INNOVATION.

There are lots of stakeholders in educational and the failure of one (especially the family) has negative implications.

Societies or communities are different in what the value or cherish most.
You can't sit in Accra or Kumasi and conclude that, live poultry as an award for academic excellence in irrelevant.

My advice to all those city dwellers is to "travel and see" before they comment.

The financial position of the school may be strong enough to enable the authorities provide the things that people are suggesting. In addition to that ,it must be noted that anything that is presented to someone as a prize must be valuable to the person.It seems to me that the teachers know what the children cherish hence the decision to present them with the chickens.This is a humble beginning.I am sure with time, the authorities will award the pupils with something more presentable.

Please this two stories are completely different. To me given them fouls is not a bad idea at all. Again when did the second term ended n why is it popping up in the media now. Copy copy i guess.
