He has not come out to deny or confirm this. So, into whose eyes are the politicians throwing dust???

If Marking doesn't see the need to fulfill the accord Mahama made in accepting the Gitmo 2, then he is either being nonsensically partisan or simply ignorant on the core issues involved.

Whether the NPP Party still clings on to its opposition to the admission of the Gitmo 2 or not, it has been our National policy that needs to be fulfilled. Moreover, we must not rattle the hornets' nest to arouse the angst of the erratic new Head of State of the USA. He seems to be already seeking vulnerable Nations to make scapegoat of to bolster his fading popularity as some tough patriotic leader who swiftly deals firmly with perceived enemies of the USA.

Additionally, the enhanced relationship that the acceptance of the Gitmo 2 made possible for us and the USA should not be wasted. After all, their presence in Ghana was supposed to be only temporary. And we have come along some ways with that. So, we only have to wait a few years, or even months, to have them re-located, while we would continue to benefit from the rapprochement.

In fact, we would be acting like cowardly chicken if we based our rejection of them on the assumption that since the Gitmo 2 were arrested by the USA that necessarily makes them dangerous some people who should not be allowed to stay in Ghana. The reason why they were released was because they were found to be innocent and were wrongly arrested. And there is no evidence to prove they had done anything violently criminal in their past before their illegal and wrong incarceration.

The irony of the NPP opposition to the Gitmo 2 is that many other more dangerous people either illegally sneak into Ghana, or even enter the country legally every so often.
